Zac
Zac pulled up at Faith's house. He knew that she didn't want them to communicate any more. But she had sent him that package. And he had sent her one back. And besides, he had previously said he would do this.
He got out of the van, walked up to the door and knocked. He was nervous.
Faith
Faith opened the door to find Zac standing there.
"Uh... hi..."
She bit her lip.
"Wow, this is incredibly awkward, isn't it?"
Zac
"Yeah," Zac agreed. "I wonder why that is?"
He grinned cheekily at her, then told himself to get to the point.
"She doesn't want to see you, remember?"
"I came to pick up the couch - you said you were going to replace it remember? And I said I'd take it off your hands?"
Faith
"Yeah, sure, come in."
Faith stood back to let Zac in.
"Ok, this is odd."
She gestured to the living room.
"Well, I guess you know where it is..."
Zac
"Yeah..."
Man this was almost painful! Maybe this wasn't such a good idea.
Zac looked down at the couch.
"Good memories here."
Faith
Faith gave a small grin.
"Oh yeah."
She paused then cleared her throat softly.
"Do you... uh... need a hand carrying it?"
Zac
"That would be appreciated," Zac replied. "Thanks."
He moved over to one end of the couch.
Faith
Faith walked to the opposite end and lifted her side easily with one hand.
"You got it?"
Zac
"Yes," Zac replied. "Show off. And for that you can be the one to open the doors."
He started walking.
Faith
"I can't help it if I'm stronger than you."
Faith grinned and then opened the front door and carefully carried the couch through the door.
"A little heavy, diddums?"
Zac
Zac poked his tongue out at her as they stepped through the door and down the foot path.
"Just because I wasn't called by some magical destiny whatchawhosit to kill vampires..."
Faith
"Doesn't it make you sad to admit that your ex girlfriend is stronger than you?"
Faith grinned as they put the couch down, then started laughing as she saw the stains again.
"That is... man, learn to aim, that's all I can say."
Zac
"Realising your weaknesses is the first step to becoming stronger," Zac replied.
He opened up the van door and then went back to the couch to get it into the van.
"And considering certain... habits of mine," Zac went on. "I think it's a good thing if I don't learn to aim."
Faith
Faith smiled.
"Well, those habits are no longer a burden of mine. But, I spose I'll miss them."
She lifted her side of the couch again, waiting for Zac.
Zac
Zac lifted his side of the couch and together they hauled it into the van. Zac them climbed in after and reach into the front seat purposely in such a way that Faith (if she looked) would get a nice view of his butt.
Hey, just because they were broken up didn't mean he didn't want her back like crazy.
Faith
Faith grinned as she saw his butt in the air, so she pinched it then stood back, twirling her hair, trying to look innocent.
This really wasn't the way to forget about him.
Zac
Zac peered back at her.
"I know it was you. Do it again and I'm afraid I'll just have to kiss you," he threatened mockingly.
He grabbed the envelope and started shuffling out of the van.
Faith
"Like I'm scared of that. I do recall where kissing got us last time... and the time before that... and that..."
Faith grinned cheekily at him.
Zac
Zac grinned back and handed her the envelope.
"As promised... there should be enough in there for a new couch. And if there isn't, give me a yell."
"Now do me a favour and buy an expensive couch," he thought to himself.
Faith
"Will do."
Faith stood for a second, then the silence got too much for her. She reached over and kissed him softly.
"Thanks."
Zac
Zac paused, then kissed her back. He pulled away for just a moment, before wrapped his arms around her and kissing her more passionately.
Faith
Faith ran a hand through Zac's hair, kissing him tenderly, her other hand going around his neck.
She pulled away when they were both breathless.
"Uh... sorry about that. Habit. Habit to be broken."
Zac
Zac turned away from her and swallowed.
"Why do you keep doing that?" he asked quietly. "You push me away, you pull me back. What do you want, damn it? I'm not a yoyo, y'know!"
Faith
"Zac, I'm sorry."
Faith sighed.
"God, I hate that this is so confusing."
She touched his shoulder lightly.
"I want you, but I can't have you..."
Zac
Zac shook his head. He couldn't look at her. He didn't want her to see the tears threatening to spill from his eyes.
"I just... I... I'd better go."
He walked around to the drivers seat.
Faith
Faith bit her lip as a tear slid down her cheek. She sighed and turned around and ran back into her house, leaning against the door and sliding down to the ground, her crying getting heavier.
It was over.
Zac and Isaac
Zac drove home. Isaac was waiting for him.
"How'd it go?" he asked.
Zac opened up the back to get the couch out.
"I almost wish I had never gone," he admitted at last.
Isaac put a hand on his shoulder in sympathy, then telekinetically took the couch down to the basement for him.
