4 October 2003 - Plotting

Tegan and Nessa

The Mavericks

Mordred drummed his fingers on the table as he looked at the other Mavericks.

"Well?"

"Well, Wolf, it's very simple." Octavian steepled his fingers. "You need to get out of here for a bit. Too many bad memories. Vortigern wants to leave as well. Dru is sniffing around Spike, and that doesn't sit well at all."

"Damn straight it doesn't," Vortigern murmured.

"Quite. I, however, need to stay here. Displaced is becoming quite important to me."

"You're all getting to be a band actually worth listening to," Mordred said.

"Thank you, dear boy. Now. Dem, what do you think?" Octavian asked his sister.

"Well, I could go for a bit. Rogue...I feel rather uncomfortable around her now. And Remy can reach me if he needs to." Demetria smiled slightly.

"The question is, how do we convince SPike? And how do we stop Dru from coming after us?" Octavian said.

Mordred looked at Gwen. "Any ideas, love?"

Gwen

Gwen sat forward, arms back in gloves. She didn't need them, but they did make her look kinda cool.

"What I propose is fairly simple."

She grinned.

"That is, if you're me."

She cleared her throat and stood up.

"Now, I've been able to steal, basically anything I've been asked to. I can get in and out of a building undetected in under ten minutes. I can..."

Gwen sauntered over to Dem touched her head lightly, then with her other hand, slipped a ring off her finger, undetected.

"Now," she said, holding it up. "Am I to understand that there are certain vampires that need certain rings?"

She grinned and handed the ring back to Dem.

"To cut a long presentation short, I say this... we steal those gems."

Gwen

Demetria giggled and clapped her hands. "Oh, how perfectly delightful, darrrrling! Mordred, you have such good taste! She's wonderful!"

"Glad you approve, Dem." Mordred smiled slightly. "Sounds like a bloody good idea, Gwen."

"Sabre? What about him?" Vortigern asked.

"I think Sabre would be just as glad to see the back of Spike, as you would be yo have Dru fading into the distance," Octavian said.

"Gwen, darrrling girl, could you teach me that trick? After all, if Remy is a thief...it could be fun to surprise him." Demetria smiled devillishly.

Gwen

Gwen grinned and wrapped her arms around Mordred's neck from behind, bending slightly to kiss his cheek.

"Of course I'll teach you."

She grinned and wriggled her fingers.

"It's really about distraction. But, now, when and how are we going to do this, and of course, the real question is... where are we gonna go on holiday?"

The Mavericks

"London!" Demetria said, clapping her hands. "We can show you ever so many things, Gwen love! And there's lots of stories about Mordred that make a lot more sense if you see the place where the story occured."

"Thanks, Dem. But Britian, and Wales...I'd love to take you to Wales, mo cariad..." Mordred reached up to kiss Gwen.

"I'm sure Spike wouldn't mind going back to visit," Vortigern said thoughtfully. "Especially if I promise him that he can go watch a Manchester United game."

"So, how does a trip across the pond sound to you?" Mordred asked Gwen.

Gwen

Gwen moved around and perched herself on Mordred's lap. She kissed him deeply.

"It sounds wonderful," she whispered, beofre standing up and stretching her hands.

"So, when do we put this little plan into action?"

The Mavericks

"As soon as possible?" Vortigern said. "They'll be at the lair. And I know where that is. We can just pop over there...we can take Spike. He might be annoyed with me later because we used him as a distraction, but he can't know. She's his Sire, and that counts for a lot."

"So, he's our foil?" Mordred asked.

"Yep." Vortigern nodded. "What say we go get packed, and then meet back here to go into the city and steal those gems?"

"We're all quite willing to help," Octavian said. "We do have some experience at this type of thing. No where near your level, of course." He looked at Gwen.

Gwen

Gwen grinned.

"Thank you, as I said to Mordred, it's not easy being this fanastic."

She kissed Mordred's head.

"Now, let's do it."

The Mavericks

"Mary will need to stay here, but she seems to have made some friends," Vortigern mused. "She doesn't have any cotrol yet."

"Yeah, kinda noticed that. What with random objects exploding into a flurry of red fireworks..." Octavian raised an eyebrow. "I'll look after her for you."

"Thanks." Vortigern gripped his friend's hand for a moment.

"And your paintings." Octavian smiled slightly. "Go have some fun, for once. God knows it's been long enough since you three have."

"Yes, well..." Demetria fiddled with the ring on her finger. "Maybe we can pick you up for a day or so, sometime."

"That would be nice, but I don't need it." Octavian stood. "So, let's get started."

"Yeah..." Mordred stood as well, and after a beat, so did Demetria and Vortigern. "Let's get packed. After we steal the gems, we'll want to get going as soon as possible."

Gwen

Gwen reached for Mordred's hand.

"My stuff is mostly at my house," she said. "So, can we make a quick stop?"

The Mavericks

"Yep, defintely." Mordred nodded. "Hey, Vort do you still have..."

"Nyx's credit card? Yep. And I don't think she'd care now anyway. You've got Faolan as well."

"He's going to love it," Demetria said, smiling. "Well, we better get moving." She 'ported out to her room to start packing.

"I don't actually have that much stuff. It'll take me about ten minutes to get my clobber together, and then we can go to your house, love," Mordred told Gwen. "See everyone back here in an hour?"

"Sounds good to me," Vortigern agreed.

"I'll tell Dem." Octavian walked off.

"I'll go start wheedling Spike," Vortigern said and walked away to do what he needed to do.

"Let's go then, love." Mordred kissed Gwen's cheek.

Gwen

Gwen followed Mordred to his room, and kissed him once they were inside. She glanced around at her things that were there and picked them up.

"We can leave this stuff back at mine."

She flipped out her cell and dialled in the Halliwell's number.

"Hey, Piper? I need a favour..." Gwen rattled off the details of the spell she needed done on her house.

She hung up minutes later and smiled at Mordred.

"Protection spell on my house. In exactly half an hour, my house will be unable to be ported into. Which means, if Dru gets any bright ideas, she won't be able to get into my house. Well she couldn't anyway, with the vampire barrier, but this is just for extra safety."

Mordred

"You're a smart girl, love," Mordred told her. "Hey, there's an idea. We can send any mail to the Halliwells first. Get them to resend it from Tulsa. So that Dru can't track us through postmarks."

He threw his stuff into a bag, then rapidly packed the few things Faolan had gathered. Mainly some clothes, and a few toys.

"Your house before they put the spell on?" He held his hand out to her.

Gwen

"Yup."

Gwen took his hand and they ported in and out of her house after collecting her things. As they arrived back at the mansion, Gwen adjusted her gloves.

"Right, shall we find the others?"

The Mavericks

"Rightio, pet." They went back to the rec room, to find the other three Mavericks waiting for them.

Octavian grinned. "Mavericks forever."

"Always." The four friends hugged for a moment.

"Well? Let's do this thing." Vortigern grinned. "Spike's distracted. I say we just sneak in, steal them while they're sleeping, then get the hell out."

"Good plan."

Demetria and Mordred 'ported them all to outside the front of Dru's lair.
