AJ
AJ sighed slightly as they came through the doors at the airport. She'd been in Philadelphia for two whole weeks, but it didn't seem that long. After her father came home from a meeting one day and found Marco alone in the hotel room with her, he'd basically gone off his nut and told her not to be alone with anyone while he was out because she didn't know the city well enough and yada yada yada...
But of course they'd planned to meet up every few days after that incident...
AJ was confused by his attitude toward her. He was flirting, which was usual for him she guessed, but he seemed more open about it in front of her. As if he really liked her, which she couldn't see why he would. To her they were just like best friends, having talked to each other for so long.
And now, he was there to see her off.
They stood to the side as her father stood in line to get their luggage sorted out. He always took ages, being the typically unorganized businessman 'normal' people hate. She sighed, uncomfortably, and folded her arms.
"So..." she began, but couldn't finish her sentence.
All of a sudden, there came the sound of a loud explosion from the opposite side of their section of the airport. There was a brilliant flash of white light, before people started screaming and running, and pieces of shrapnel came flying through the air.
And as much as AJ's ankles and knees willed her to run, she couldn't move.
Marco
Marco acted before he could really think about it. He knew how to handle humself in war. All he wanted to do was pick AJ up and run with her, to keep her safe. But he needed top think about others. He picked AJ up, and held her close, and then pulled her father to his feet.
"Come on sir, we have to get out of here" When he had them safely outside the airport, he went back inside, pulling out as many people as he could before he collapsed from exhaustion. Finally, the paramedics and the fire department showed up, and Marco, AJ, and most everybody else was taken to the hospital. The airport was now shut down, for the immediate future.
