28th January 2003 - Meeting The Spider

Christian

It was almost lunchtime when Christian closed his laptop again. As usual (or since he found out about him) he'd been looking up sites with information on this 'Clarke Isaac Hanson'.

Remembering the phone call he'd recently had with Craig Morrison, he remember he'd said he'd meet up with him in Tulsa in a few days... Well, it had been four days.

Wondering where his father-figure was, he pulled out his cell phone once again, and dialed Craig's number.

His fingers tapped on the laptop as he waited impatiently for an answer.

The Spider

Unfortunately for Christian, he got an answering machine:

"You have reached the answering machine of the Spider. If this is Leroy, yes I am plotting something and no, I'm not going to tell you, and would you drop dead already. If this is Tanya, the answer is next year. If this is Christian, hang up the phone, I'm there. If this is Brock, get a life, you stupid little freak."

Christian

"Tanya?" Christian frowned as he hung up, "I thought he was over her already. She must be hassling him."

He chuckled slightly as he put this phone down onto the table, the got up and made his way over to the window.

"So you're here are you?" he murmured, "where the hell are you?"

The Spider

It was funny Christian should say that, for at that very moment, the Spider was walking down the street, whistling merrily and considering the best method of suicide to implant in Brock's head if he didn't take a hint and beat it. Sometimes Craig didn't always implant thoughts quite right and they backfired, like what happened to Brock. Now it was if he had some little dog following him around all the time.

Christian

Christian sighed frustratedly as he leant his left arm against the window frame and tapped his fingers on it. He knew it was a habit Craig hated, but he wasn't here, so...

"Where the hell are you?"

As he'd said to Dustin, he wasn't known for his patience. Craig knew that, so maybe he was just taking his time to piss him off. It wouldn't be the first time, thinking back...

Looking out the window again and down onto the street, he saw the very few numbers of people on the sidewalk. Not many people came to the corner of the city, unless they had to.

Then he saw him.

The Spider

A few minutes later, Craig was knocking on Christian's door. It opened and before Christian could say anything, Craig spoke up.

"We have two weeks before the tournament. I sincerely hope you've been doing your homework."

Christian

"I have," Christian grinned, his eyes lighting up at the sight of him, "or what I can. There's heaps of info on the 'net."

He made his way over to the laptop and opened it, about to show Craig the document he'd prepared for him on Clarke Hanson... about fifty pages long.

"It includes a bio, history, all their time in the limelight..." he indicated for Craig to sit down at the table, "I know basically everything except the alien side - of which I only found a little through the YIRAAS. That he's telekinetic."

He shuddered a little at the thought of sharing his power with the alien.

The Spider

Craig noticed Christian's irritation immediately.

"You two having the same power is a bit of a bonus. You should be more aware of hia abilities then. Now, when and where would you like to kill him? What's your current plan?"

Christian

"Bit of a bonus?" Christian screwed his face up, then looked down at the table trying to think, "I haven't faced a telekinetic since... well, since my mother."

He looked up at Craig for a moment, but couldn't hold his gaze as he thought of his mother. It had been over a decade since she'd disappeared and there'd been no trace of her since.

"And as for a plan, well what the heck do you think I called you up here for? I don't have one yet, do I?"

The Spider

Craig shook his finger at Christian.

"I am not going to baby feed you all your life. You have to learn to think for yourself."

He was silent for a moment, holding Christian's gaze.

"Fine," the Spider went on. "What do you wish for the circumstances of his death to be? A stab in the back? Or do you want him to see his killer? What about witnesses? Although that is always dangerous on account of the fact that they may try to stop you."

Christian

"You know, I don't really care how he dies, as long as he does. But I might have to consider those brothers of his," Christian scratched his head as they looked over the document.

"Basically every site I've gotten information from says that they are basically inseparable. If they get the way..." he shook his head, "then they'll have to go too. Which is no problem for me, two extra aliens is bonus for both of us, right?"

The Spider

"Indeed," Craig replied switching on his computer. "And what powers do they have? Temperature maniuplation, and time freezing."

A smirk started to appear on his face.

"Well, now, prospects arise. We could have them kill each other. All I would need to do would be to implant a suggestion in one of them - perhaps the temperature one... Zachary, is it? On the other hand, that may be too easy. It's always nice to be able to humiliate your prey. And to let others know what you've done, and teach them to despair, and that no one is safe."

Christian

Christian frowned a little, confused.

"So... what are you implying? You want to use telepathy to tell them to not trust each other and kill each other, or are you telling me to kidnap them?"

He hesitated for a moment, before glancing at the door to make sure it was shut.

"Well, either way it looks like you'll be doing most of the work, huh?" he chuckled.

The Spider

"No, no, no," Craig replied. No kidnapping will be neccesary. I implant a suggestion to one of them say the temperature one..."

Then he snapped his fingers.

"No... not him. Isaac. After all, telekinetics are perfectly capable of killing. I implant a suggetsion to him to kill his brothers at a particular point. Say, for example, when a particular song is played. And prefrably in front of witnesses," his eyes glittered, "two of which will hopefully be us. Now either he kills himself out of dispair or someone tries to stop him killing his brothers - in which case you will...exploit the moment and make it look like in the act of trying to stop Isaac killing his brothers, he killed Isaac instead. If none of the above happens, we'll just follow him home, as it were."

Christian

"You want it to get out that Clarke Hanson is an alien? Because that's what will happen if we have witnesses..." Christian hesitated, his eyes suddenly lighting up.

"You mean at the tournament?!" he exclaimed, "but how could we get them together at the same time? A telekinetic, a time freezer and a temp manipulator won't be entered in the same contests."

He hesitated, trying to think.

"Unless there's some kind of music thing, but I doubt it."

the Spider

"Yes at the tournament. And no, they probably won't be in the same contests. But there is something they will be at. After all, if they are so inseparable, they'd probably watch each other during contests and meet up with each other in between. Like, say, for instance, at lunch?" a smile crossed the Spider's face. "They have to eat you know, and there will be plenty of people in the cafeteria."

Christian

Christian grinned.

"Perfect," he began, "and being as famous as they are, they might even have a gig there."

He laughed for a moment, then rubbed his face with his hands.

"This is going to be so cool. So what do we have to organize before then? I think it's pretty much set.""

Once again, he stared in awe at the man who'd brought him up. How could someone be that excellent at everything?

the Spider

"Well, we're going to need a way of getting into the tournament, now aren't we? And I'll also need to find a way to get close enough to Isaac to plant my little suggestion too," Craig paused. "Which is also a point. What should be the trigger?"

Christian

"Well, you've never told me how close you need to be, can't you do it from the opposite side of a wall?"

Then he hesitated, realizing how stupid that sounded.

"Can we get a look at where the tournament's being held before it takes place? That way we might be able to sort out locations better... like, where you're going to be, where the lunch area is, etc."

The Spider

A broad grin appeared on Craig's face.

"At last I see you're learning!" He exclaimed. "Yes, an excellent idea there. Excellent. Shall we head there now or at some other date?"

Christian

"I think we should leave it there for now. We can go there closer to the date. Well... maybe the 9th or 10th? How's that?" he asked, looking up.

He knew 'the spider' had a hectic schedule.

"And while we're about to depart each other's company, what's this about Tanya? I thought you were over her?"

The Spider

"Sounds fine to me," Craig replied calmly. "And as for Tanya, I am well an truly over that wrench. If she doesn't start leaving me alone soon, I may actually kill her with my own hands."

This was a rather shocking thought for Craig to be consider here. Usually when he wanted someone dead, he would plant a suggestion in their head to commit suicide, or in another person to kill his target for him.

Christian

"With your own hands?" Christian couldn't stop a slight grin from crossing his face, "that's pretty harsh."

He closed the laptop and began towards the door to see him out.

"What did she do this time? Does she want you back that bad or something?"

the Spider

"Harsh? Perhaps. But the fact that she also has Telepathy makes it practically impossible to do it any other way," he regarded Christian, "I have tried, believe me. I can't implant anything in her head, and whenever I send someone else after her she just removes the suggestion, or puts in one of her own."

Craig growled softly.

"And what does she want? The list is endless! I shan't bore you with details."

Christian

"I remember that time she tried to get that uh... what was he? A butcher?" Christian frowned, "I remember he tried to kill you once. That was payback, wasn't it? And I believe for a human he gave you a run for your money."

He chuckled, before quickly sobering warily.

"So ah... I'll see you on the 9th or 10th? Want to make it 10th? Where should we meet?"

the Spider

"The tenth will do. There's a cafe called Maria's," Craig replied.

He started out the door, and then turned for a moment and added:

"And for your information, when Tanya implants a suggestion she really implants a suggestion."

Christian

"I know, I've heard to many stories not to believe what she's capable of," Christian looked a little nervous, but with an obvious glare in his eyes as he spoke of her.

"I think I was at Maria's the other day when I called you... or it could have been Mario's or something," he rubbed his chin, "but I'll find it, and I'll meet you there about 6 or 7 o'clock? We don't want to be there during the day."

the Spider

"7 then," Craig replied. "Good day Christian."

The Spider turned and walked down the hall, cracking his knuckles. Getting into the tournament would be the easy part. Staying in there without being recognised long enough to carry out their plan would be the hard part. But it would sure be a kick in that interferring Leroy's pants to know they were able to get in under his nose.
