Rachel Evans walked into her father's house and shut the door. Today was her first day at St. James Academy. Everyone there was so snobby. She hadn't made any friends. In fact, the only bright thing about the whole situation was the school gymnastics team. Gymnastics was Rachel's life. She trained every morning before school, and every other day after school, as well as most Saturdays. She was training for the Olympics, though she doubted she would ever make it. And even though she made the school gymnastics team, she still didn't have any friends, because they all thought she was too good for them. Sighing, she changed into a leotard and went down to the basement to practice. While she was stretching, she heard the phone ring upstairs.
"Hello?" she answered.
"Rachel? It's Tobias"
"Tobe? Is that really you?"
"It's really me. I just wanted to see how you were doing."
"I'm doing okay. I love both of my gym coaches, my private coach and the school's coach, but other than that, this new school sucks."
"Oh? Tell me about it." Rachel proceeded to tell him all about her first day. Tobias knew how hard it was to start at a new school in the middle of the year. Before he became a hawk, he was always beeing shipped off between relatives. His father was off in outer space, and his mother was blind, and had been told that he died as a baby. So there he was, shipped from aunt to uncle to uncle to aunt. He could sympathize.
"Don't worry about it Rachel. There's no way that you won't make new friends. And you always have us, and the Hansons, of course. Don't forget about your true blue friends. And Rachel, remember, I will always love you."
"I love you too, Tobias, and don't you ever forget it, okay? I've got to go, but I'll talk to you later. Bye!"
"Bye!" The call from Tobias was just what she needed to cheer up. Grinning, Rachel went down to practice.
