"Right… ok." He said. "What the heck am I supposed to do with this thing?"
Ezara gave him a look.
"If you were in tune with your powers, you would know."
"Oh c'mon Ezara. It's a taco gun. Used to make tacos no less. What do my powers have to do with anything?"
Ezara just sat crossed legged in front of him and gave him a look.
"Fine. Fine. I'm going to get in tune with my powers." He said, bored. "Abracadabra."
Suddenly it grew dark and cold. Clouds seemed to billow in around him.
"Hey, it worked." Zac said in surprise. "Well, assuming the taco gun was supposed to do this."
Then evil laugher rang around him and he saw a figure standing in the dark.
"Angel?" he asked. "Hey, I thought the Essence couldn't get past the boundary!"
"You thought wrong!" Angel cackled.
Angel lifted her hands towards him. They seemed to dazzle with light and a beam struck near his feet.
"Hey, that wasn't very nice." Zac objected.
"It wasn't supposed to be. And next time, I won't miss."
"Oh yeah?" Zac asked, lifting his taco gun. "Eat taco."
He squeezed the trigger and started shooting tacos at Angel, as if it were an automatic rifle. She yelped as the tacos hit her. Zac laughed maniacally.
"You'll regret that." She said, gathering her strength.
Next thing Zac knew, everything was back to normal and he was lying on his back on the ground. Ezara looked around, seeing pieces of taco everywhere. She used her own powers to clean up the mess, then peered down at him expressionlessly.
"You're dead." She said.
"Huh? What?"
"You're dead."
"You mean, it was an illusion?"
"Yes. I may not have great enough powers to destroy the Essence, let alone the Deadly Silence, but I do have enough to cast some good illusions." She sighed and held out a hand to help him up. "Now quit complaining and mucking up, and start practicing. I assure you, when you do fight the Essence, you won't get a second chance."
Zac grudging stood up. On the way, his head bumped against Ezara's. Their eyes locked and slowing, probably without consciously realising what they were doing, their lips met.
