"My minions, arise!" he commanded.
Bubbles - similar ones that formed the Essence before - started floating out of the cloak. Individually, they grew and turned into different shapes.
"Look around you. These are the souls of all the fears in the world." The Essence crowed.
"Yeah, well, well, you're not the only ones with minions." A voice said from behind.
They turned to look.
"Janet?" Isaac gasped.
"But, aren't... I thought, weren't you..." Zac stuttered.
"Me? The Essence? Hardly." Janet laughed. "But you were right to think there was something odd about me. However, all that can wait. I brought friends."
Isaac and Zac stared open mouthed at Janets' friends.
"Hey! It's Wolverine! And Storm! And Rogue and Cyclops! And the rest of the X-men! Whoa awesome!" Isaac exclaimed.
"And Batman, and Robin, and Spiderman, and the Phantom -"
"And he looks nothing like Billy Zane either."
"How do you know these people?" Zac asked incredulously.
"Oh, I just brought them out of an alternative dimension." Janet replied nonchalantly. "Now, I believe we have a battle to fight."
"Oh, right. It's butt kicking time."
"Ha! You think you can defeat me?" The Essence laughed haughtily.
And so the battle began (finally). And there they were, fighting hard against the souls of the fears, hoping desperately to get to the Essence.
"Lemme introduce you to a new concept." Zac said, finally approaching the Essence. "The only thing you have to fear is fear itself. I ask you, where are your minions now? All defeated."
"And what of your brother?" The Essence asked with a smirk in his voice. "He will yet die."
"No, no he won't." Zac replied determinedly.
"He will die. Like you. Like everyone here."
On that the Essence started as if to shoot out a great force of, of, well, Zac wasn't too sure what, but it would be something horrible.
"Taylor?" a voice cried.
The Essence looked over at Kristin who had run over to where Taylor was lying on the ground.
"It's not over yet." He growled, and disappeared.
