Truth be known, Cherry’s parents didn’t really like Cherry dating Zac. Not that they liked her dating anyone much at all. Nonetheless, so far they hadn’t caught them at anything they shouldn’t be doing, so her parents hadn’t forbidden her to see him. Yet.
Meanwhile, Isaac couldn’t seem to be able to stop talking to Belinda. If anyone was looking for him, chances were he’d be on the phone.
“Well, we do have a wedding to plan,” he defended when the comment was made.
“Excuses, excuses,” Zac teased.
One night, Isaac, as could be expected, was chatting to Belinda. Zac was hanging around in a chat room having weird conversations with people he’d never met before and Taylor was channel surfing.
Taylor heard Zac chuckle.
“What’s so funny?”
“Oh, nothing.”
“Uh huh.”
Like Zac was going to admit he was flirting with some girl online! Although he had to admit, with his record with women it wouldn’t really matter how things worked out with either he cyber chick or Cherry. He hadn’t been in a relationship longer than three months!
Zac glanced over at his brothers. He wondered if he would ever reach Isaac’s level. Actually engaged to someone. The engagement had been completely unexpected. They’d only been dating what, seven? Maybe eight months? Amazing.
Then his eyes landed on Taylor. He had to admit, even if he wasn’t in the habit of having lasting relationships, at least none of them had been like Taylor’s! An abusive girlfriend on the one side and a hooker on the other! Imagine that!
“Do you know what Zac’s thinking?” that sinister voice whispered to Taylor. “He’s thinking about how much better he is than you, not to get sucked in by the likes of Olivia and Wendy.”
Taylor waved his hand absently, hoping the voice would go away. When there was silence, Taylor glanced at Zac, who looked away quickly with a guilty look on his face.
“See?” the voice continued snakily.
“It could have been anything,” Taylor mumbled.
“But it was what I said. He doesn’t like you Taylor. No one does. Why do you bother staying in this world, when there’s nothing here for you?”
“Where you going?” Zac asked, noticing Taylor get up.
“To bed. I’m tired.”
“But it’s only eight o’clock.”
“So?”
Zac grinned.
“See ya in the morning, man.”
