Chapter 3

Strangely though, for the next couple of days, Taylor avoided checking his e-mail. Maybe out of fear for her answer.

Meanwhile, thanks to the fact that there were going to be travelling on Saturday any way, they decided to take a flight back to Tulsa in the morning, and then a flight to their next destination in the evening after the funeral.

"Hey Luke!" Zac yelled, waving at him.

"Zac. Hey. Wassup?"

"Oh, nuffin much. How's the tour?"

"Is that a rhetorical question?" Zac joked.

"Hi Luke." Isaac greeted, joining them.

"Hey Ike." Luke grinned, then glanced over at Taylor. "Hi Taylor."

Taylor barely looked at him.

"He's umm, still, y'know." Isaac interjected.

Luke shook his head.

"Dude that's sad - no pun intended."

There was an awkward silence.

"Hey! Jim!" Isaac said suddenly, spotting another friend.

"Hi guys." Jim replied. "Man, that's sucks about David."

Isaac nodded.

"I know. I know. How's Mel?"

Jim shrugged.

"Hey Jimbo, better question. How's Fra-an?" Zac asked teasingly.

"You're just jealous."

What was it about being in a room full of family and friends that made Taylor feel claustrophobic? And yet, at concerts, where there were so many more people, he didn't feel this way at all?

He didn't know. After all this time he still didn't even feel an ounce of remorse for David. David, his good friend David, whom he knew for so long and for so well.

What was his problem?

Still dwelling on his own feelings Taylor didn't noticed the hush that came over them when Mel entered the church. It barely registered that every started sitting down.

It was only when the pastor started talking that Taylor realised what was going on. And after what seemed like a great deal of talking, the casket was taken out to the cars, and they headed down to the cemetery.
