"Who was it?" Zac asked.
Isaac was silent for a moment.
"It was Mel."
"Oh." Zac's questioning was put off by Isaac's silence.
"Is something wrong?" Diana asked.
Isaac looked up at her.
"David died last night. Car accident."
"Oh no." she replied. "Poor Mel, how's she taking it?"
"She is really upset."
"Understandably. The poor thing."
"When's the funeral?" Walker asked.
"This Saturday, but she said she would understand if we couldn't make it." Isaac answered.
Walker nodded.
There was a kind of awkward silence for the rest of the meal. Taylor couldn't wait to get away. The silence was horrible. It was as bad as the time when they found out that... but no, he refused to let himself remember.
When he finally did get away, he checked his e-mail, hoping for something from Moira. Sure enough, there was. Reading e-mail from Moira always made him smile. She always managed to cheer him up, if only for a little while.
Hiya Taylor :)
No, I didn't go to sleep on the job. I was just resting my eyes! lol
S'ok. If U don't wanna tell me anything, U don't have to. I won't push it.
I'm trying to decide what to do about Dazza-the-big-fat-ugly-jerk. I don't know his gf all that well, what do you reckon?
~+~+ Moira +~+~
Then he started on his reply:
We just got some bad news. We've got some friends in Tulsa named Mel and David who got married about six months ago or something. We just found out that David died in a car accident last night. Y'know, the irony of it all is that they got married really young (Mel's 20) and ppl kept telling them it wouldn't last wrong. I guess they were right, but probably not for the reason they thought it would end.
Taylor paused for a moment.
Moira? What's wrong w/ me? I've been friends with David for years but I can't seem to be sad that he's gone! I don't even feel sorry for Mel. Am I a horrible person?
