Chapter 27

You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you

"Okay, I'll bite," Zac said, "where the heck are we?"

The five boys were in a crowded concert hall.

"Isn't it obvious?" Taylor asked, pointing at the fan signs. "We're at a Hanson concert."

"Hey, cool! I've always wanted to see myself perform."

"You're not at all vain, are you Zac," Isaac commented dryly.

"I'm amazed the fans don't recognise us," said Taylor.

"What exactly is your power?" Fred asked the boy.

"Well, when it's finished asserting itself, it'll allow me to travel between dimensions and time. Well, we already can, but I can't control it yet. Normally we give powers names, but The Narrator hasn't bothered to give it one yet."

"Maybe she hasn't decided, just like she doesn't know your name yet?" Fred suggested.

The boy shrugged.

"Hey would you two shut up?" Isaac asked. "The show's about to start."

Indeed the music blared, voices - mainly feminine ones - came blaring out, and the curtain dropped.

"What the hell…" Zac asked. "Oh. My. Gosh. That's… they're… no way!"

What was scaring Zac out of his wits was that it wasn't Isaac, Taylor and Zac onstage - it was Jessica, Avery, Mackie and Zoe.

"That's why the fans didn't recognise us," Taylor said, oddly calm.

"This is wrong. Terribly wrong. It's all wrong! We're the one who are supposed to be famous!" Zac complained.

"I suggest you get us out of here before Zac loses it completely," Isaac said to the boy.

"I can't! I don't know how."

"Would you stop that?" Zac glowered at Fred, who was rather visibly getting into the music.

Fred only glanced at him. Much irritated, Zac lunged towards him, hands towards his neck, and it was on that note that the boy's power went whacko again and they transported from the concert hall.

"Now where are we?" Taylor asked, he also irritated now.

Zac was wrestling with Fred on the ground. Well, more like in the ground as they were in the middle of a swamp. It was all very muddy and very smelly.

"Well wherever we are, I don't really want to stay here too long," Isaac replied. "Look at all those skeletons!"

No sooner had he said that but one of the skeletons stood up, pointed its long bony arms and wiggled its long fingers at them. This sight gravely frightened Isaac, Taylor and the boy (Zac and Fred were too busy fighting) and resulted in them attempting to make a run for it. But the mud dragged them down and soon Zac and Fred weren't the only ones who were muddy and smelly. The living skeleton was quickly upon them.
