Chapter 97

It wasn't until well into the reception that Isaac had a chance to talk to Babsie. He had noticed her walking out onto one of the balconies at the restaurant.

"Babs?"

Babsie turned her head, glanced at him then turned away.

"Babsie?"

"What?"

Isaac bit his lip. He wasn't used to her talking to him like that.

"I love you."

Babsie was silent. Isaac couldn't stand it any longer. He whirled her around so she faced him and kissed her. For a moment Babsie seemed a little reluctant, but this quickly gave way.

"Oh, Ike. Let's not fight again." She said, wrapping her arms around him.

"I wouldn't dream of it."

"I'm so sorry I ran off like that."

"No, it's ok, it's ok. I'm just happy you're talking to me again!"

"I'm sorry... I just... it was a bad week for me and... well... y'know, I used to know everything that was happening as it was happening. But then... earlier that same day I found out that a good friend of mine had died three months previous and no one told me, and... and..." Babsie was too choked up to speak any more.

"It's ok Babs. It's ok. No matter what happens I'll always love you."

"And I love you."

"Y'know, I think that like, throwing the bouquet is a stupid tradition." Kelsey announced. "I mean, like, it doesn't really say who's gonna get married next."

"Hear, hear!" Babsie grinned. "Down with tradition."

"I think that's like, your motto Babsie." Kelsey grinned.

"Who doesn't think that?"

"Y'know, Kel has a point. Didn't Avie catch it once when she was little?" Zac asked. "I don't see no ring on her finger."

"C'mon girl." coaxed Hannah, Kelsey's Maid of Honour. "Humour us."

"I'm like, always humouring you."

"Well, the answer to that one is 'so why should now be any different?'." Babsie grinned

"Hey, like, who's side are you on?"

Babsie just laughed.

Later that night, Zac and Kelsey zoomed off on a motorcycle (naturally no one was in the least surprised) with "Just married" written on the back (another tradition Kelsey thought was dumb).
