Chapter 80

"What is this?" Zoe demanded, throwing some papers down on the table in front of Mackie.

Mackie glanced at them, then looked up at her.

"It's - they're nothing." He mumbled, scooping up the papers.

"Nothing?" Zoe repeated. "Looks like collage pamphlets to me."

"Yeah? So?"

"Well, hello! What with touring and recording, we don't exactly have time for collage!"

Mackie was silent.

"You're not planning on quitting the band are you?" Zoe asked finally.

Silence.

"Are you?"

Still silence.

"Mackie answer me damn it!"

Mackie met her gaze and glared fiercely at her.

"I knew you'd react like this! I knew it!" He exploded. "No, I'm not gonna quit the band, I'm just gonna take a break from it for a couple of years ok?"

"Oh, just a couple of years." Zoe replied sarcastically.

"Yes, just a couple of years. Only two because I'll be doing it full time."

"Oh yes, well, that just makes so much difference."

"The world does not revolve around you Zoe!"

"I never said it did!"

"Well, you sure act like it!"

"Hey you're the one being selfish, what about me and Sarah? We're in the band too in case you hadn't noticed." The two glared at each other.

"I'm just gonna go tell Sarah right now. I'm sure she be just as happy as I am." Zoe said at last.

"Sarah is a great deal different to you. She'll take the news a lot better." Mackie replied as Zoe walked off. "She'll probably even be happy for me."

"Yeah, right." Zoe scorned.

On that, she disappeared out the door.
