"And speaking of The Amazons, guess who we have in the studio?" Jess added.
Jess was at work, obviously. Much had happened since she first started as a DJ. But perhaps the biggest thing was getting a co-host, and ultimately, her own show.
"Yeah, that's right, we have Stephanie and Molly from that fantastic girl band, The Amazons." Monty said. "So there are five of you in the band, where are the other three?"
"Oh well, Petra and Suzi are making calls to other radio stations in like, other countries. And… where's Vanessa?" Stephanie asked. "I know she told us this morning…"
"She's doing an interview for a guitar mag." Molly answered.
"So, Vanessa's your guitarist? What about the rest of you?" Monty asked.
"Well, Petra is the bassist and Suzi play drums. I play the keyboards." Stephanie replied. "And Molly plays the violin and cello. But y'know, we also switch around and play other instruments as well, but those are our main ones."
"Awesome. So, is this your first album? Or have you done indie records?" Jess asked.
"We released one indie record, mainly as a fundraiser for beast cancer a couple of years ago." Molly told her. "We would send them out as demos to record companies as well."
"Is that how you got signed?" Monty asked.
"Nah. We were doing a charity concert and Zac Hanson was there. He met up with Suzi's mom and he asked for a copy of our indie record. And he ended up signing us up on his label, MOE Records."
Jess's eyes twinkled at the sound of her brother's name.
"Getting back to the beast cancer thing, I believe you girls have done a lot of fund raising for research." She said.
"Yeah. All our mom's have had beast cancer, that's how we met." Stephanie said. "It was actually a big fundraiser picnic and we became friends and soon thereafter we started the band."
"Ok, so girls, got any boyfriends?"
Stephanie and Molly laughed.
"Suzi and Vanessa do. And Stephanie goes through guys like her pants are on fire."
"Hey!"
"But Petra and I are available. Actually, it's kinda sad. I'm 23 years old and I still haven't had a boyfriend, a first kiss or a first date. I don't know. Maybe I have guy repellant or something." Molly joked. "And all I can say is I hope I have girl repellant too. I really, really hope I have girl repellant."
"Oh c'mon." Monty said. "You're an attractive, talented young woman. I bet you have to beat off the guys with a stick."
Molly laughed.
"Nah. I think I'm just a little too, umm, weird. I think I scare guys off. Too extremist or something."
"Yeah." Stephanie agreed. "If we lived in the sixties, Molly would be one of those Hippies that chain themselves to trees."
