Chapter 35

A couple hours later, Taylor, too, got a phone call.

"Well, I have news, and I have news." His friend said.

"Yeah?"

"You y'know that Marty guy you asked me to keep an eye out for?"

"What about him?"

"He and some red-head chick were driving home at about the time of the tornado. They found the car on your street. It's completely totaled and they're both dead."

Taylor let out a low breath.

"Jade." He murmured.

"Know her?"

"Ex-girlfriend."

"Oh."

"So, ahh, what's the other news?"

"Are you sitting down?"

"No."

"Then sit down."

"Ok." Taylor said, sitting down. "What is it?"

"Dude, I'm on the rescue crew on your street. We've managed to pull out different ones from their houses. Injured… and dead. Taylor… I, I'm sorry. Your sister and your dad… they didn't make it man."

"Oh my gosh."

"I'm really sorry man. They were… they were… gone before we got there. Your mom's in hospital, but when we got her out… she's in really bad shape Taylor, that's all I know."

"Oh my gosh."

"Look, umm, I have to go. You might want to call your Aunt or whoever…" his friend went on to leave him the rest of the details.

A few minutes later, Taylor hung up. He walked into the hotel room where everyone else was, his face expressionless.

"Taylor?" Zac asked.

"They… Dad and Yassie… they… they're… oh man…" Taylor felt the tears pricking at his eyes.

Rita immediately wrapped her arms around him.

"And… and Mom?"

"Hospital. I, I, I, just rang then… it doesn't look good. There's a lot of internal bleeding…"

Isaac picked up his phone.

"Who ya calling?" Zac asked.

"Chris. I'm canceling the rest of the tour."
