"Mackie?" Taylor asked.
"They, uhh, they just took her into surgery." He replied.
His brothers nodded.
"Where are Zoe and Sarah?" Babsie asked.
"Outside, on the hospital grounds. Sarah is… well she's… she needs a lot of comforting. Which I can understand, seeing as Dad and Yassie… and then Mom…" Mackie trailed off.
It was many hours later before they heard the result of the operation.
"Mr Hanson?" called the doctor that entered the room where they were waiting.
"Yes?" replied Isaac, Taylor, Zac and Mackie.
The doctor gave a bewildered look and the guys laughed for a moment.
"Is, umm, is Mom ok?" Mackie asked finally, recovering quickly.
"Diana Hanson?" the doctor confirmed. "I'm afraid she didn't make it."
Mackie slumped in his seat.
"What went wrong?" Isaac demanded.
"Too much internal bleeding. Too long a delay in between when she was injured and her into surgery. Too many things like that. I'm sorry."
There was a depressed silence. Maybe even a little disbelieving - for some hadn't yet registered what had happened - the full blow as it were.
"I, ahh, I need someone to come with me." The doctor continued after a moment. "Paperwork."
"I'll go." Isaac said.
As Isaac followed the doctor out of the room, Mackie started crying. He had kept his tears locked up inside him for too long and this news had broken the barrier.
Two minutes later Zoe and Sarah walked in. Sarah had obviously been crying herself, for her eyes were red and she was sniffling. The girls took one look at their family.
"Oh, no. Oh please no." Zoe begged.

Maybe one of the worst things about funerals, aside from the fact that the person is dead of course, is all the legalities that come after it.
One problem they were briefly faced with was that Zoe and Sarah were under eighteen. However, since Mackie was eighteen, they decided that he should have custody over his sisters, seeing as they were in a band together.
Since the tornado had destroyed their parents' house and Taylor and Rita's house, the whole lot of them lived in Isaac and Babsie house. But it wasn't quite the tight squeeze a few of them thought it might be. The place was designed with a lot of bedrooms.
Besides, it wasn't like they were going to be together too long. Once everyone had time to mourn their parents and their sister, Hanson was going back on tour and Indecision were going to LA to finally record their new album.
