Chapter 92

"Hello?" Zac said into the phone.

"Uhh, Zac? Umm, this is Cassie."

"Yeah, I recognised your voice. What's up?"

There was quiet for a moment.

"Zac, umm, well, have you read, no of course you wouldn't have..."

"Wouldn't have what?"

"Do, do you read the tabloids?"

"Sometimes. Why?"

"Zac, is it true?"

"Is what true? I haven't read the tabloids in ages you know. I do read 'em but not that often!"

There was more quiet. Cassie sounded truly upset.

"Did you really get her pregnant?"

"Who? I have no idea what you're talking about."

"This girl, umm, Stacy, she says that you secretly used to go out. She approached all the tabloids and girl magazines and announced she's having your baby. It's all over the place. I mean, normally I wouldn't believe this stuff, but I know that you used to date lots of girls secretly and -"

"Cassie, there's no way. I never dated anyone named, oh wait, yes I did. But I'm still a virgin. I couldn't have done it."

"Well, one of you is lying. I'm, I'm sorry Zac." Cassie was almost crying. "I just, please, don't talk to me again until you sort this out. If she's telling the truth, I don't want to get between you and your kid -"

"No, Cassie please don't! She's lying! Not me, I'm not lying. Cassie -"

But it was too late. She had hung up. Zac stared at the receiver in shock.

"Damn Stacy." He growled. "I knew I should have taken her seriously when she said she'd get even. Damn it!"

Zac started pacing.

"But there's no way she can prove it's mine, even if she is pregnant. I never slept with her."

Then he paused.

"Oh no." He slammed his fist into the wall. "I got drunk at her stupid party when we were recording in LA. Damn, damn, damn. I hardly remembered a stupid blasted thing in the morning!"

Zac slumped against the wall and held his face in his hands.

"So, it could be mine..." he whispered to himself as realisation hit.

"Zac!" Isaac shouted, stepping into the bus. "Guess what Taylor spotted in the tabloids?"
