Chapter 93

Zac denied it of course. He was a little embarrassed about getting drunk at the party - the means by which the baby could be his. Naturally everyone asked him about it, and every time he claimed he'd never touched her. The child could not be his.

"She's lying." He proclaimed.

Of course, it may be worth adding that most of the time he spent saying this, he was trying to convince himself. Still, he managed to convince his family and travelling companions, amongst others that he was telling the 100% truth.

Naturally, Zac felt very sick inside when asked about a DNA test. He was scared. He was scared that the baby would turn out to be his. And boy, that would look really good wouldn't it? Especially if it got out how it happened. Zac Hanson fulfils cliche "sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll". Great.

"Where is he?" Babsie demanded, stepping into the hotel room.

"Babsie? What are you doing here?" Taylor asked.

It was about a week or so later, and it seemed they had a surprise visitor.

"I've come to see the idiot."

"Who Zac?"

"Do you know of any other idiots?"

"Good point. That room there."

**********

"Zachary Walker Hanson. You big idiot."

"Shut up Barbara. I've been called that enough times already. Both things." Zac sounded miserable.

"Who's that?" she asked, her voice a lot softer, referring to the photo he was gazing at.

"Cassie." He replied as a tear rolled down his nose and landed on the photo.

"You really like her huh?"

"Yeah. And she was just beginning to trust me again too. But then this happened."

Babsie patted his back.

"Gee, I've never seen you act this way over anyone." She commented, sympathetically, then, changing her tone, she continued. "But now, to the reason why I came here, you idiot."

"To call me an idiot? You could have done that over the phone."

"Nope. I came to give you a maths lesson. When were you last in LA?"

"Five months ago." Zac answered, a little confused.

"And how many months pregnant is she?"

Zac sat up, a smile growing on his face as his puffy red eyes met Babsie's glowing dark ones.

"Three."

"I'm guessing that something happened in LA that could have - or did - lead to you sleeping with her huh Zac?" Babsie said smugly. "Don't confirm that for me. I don't really want to know. But, as for now, go redeem yourself from the titles of 'village idiot' and 'flunker of maths class' by getting that DNA test done ok?"

Zac gave her a hug.

"Thank you Babsie."
