Chapter 58

October 2022

Hope looked up as the door to her dressing room opened and closed quickly. Standing in front of it was a guy dressed in black jeans and a leather jacket. He had dark hair. He hadn’t seen her yet as he was facing the door. Hope decided this required the stuck up starlet treatment.

“And just who do you think you are?” she demanded.

He turned around slowly and his eyes fell on Hope, who was giving him a haughty expression. He stared at her.

“Cat got your tongue? And don’t you know it’s rude to stare?”

“Have we met before?” he asked.

“I doubt it,” she replied haughtily.

He closed he distance between them.

“You sure?” he asked, then snap his finger and slipped his arm around his waist. “Wait I know, you’re the chick from Mikey’s.”

Hope slapped him across his face.

“And for that I will not allow you the privilege of knowing who I am. Now, get your hand off my person before I call security and have you thrown out.”

“Like you weren’t planning on doing that anyway.”

Hope threw him a harsh stare. After a moment he move his arm.

“That’s a good boy. Now don’t slam the door on your way out.”

“Boy?” he sneered. “I’m obviously much older than you, little girl.”

“Oh? And how old do you think I am?”

“Thirteen.”

“Try eighteen. Now remove -” Hope paused. “What on earth would a thirteen-year-old be doing at Mikey’s?”

“Oh, y’know,” he replied, running a finger down Hope’s face. “You get all types.”

“Yes you do,” she said coolly. “And some of them come in the form of large muscular security guards.”

“Okay, I get the point.”

“Just now? You must be dense.”

He grinned at her. Then he kissed her briefly and departed.

“Two-bit jerk,” Hope muttered. “I should have called security. And speaking of which, I think they need a good talking to if they allowed that moron to get in here at all.”

She picked up the phone and dialed. A smirk crossed her face and she wondered how well the stuck up starlet act would work on them.

“This is Hope Hanson here. I demand to speak to the head of security this instant! … I don’t care if he is in a meeting, don’t you realise I just had an intruder in my dressing room? I want an explanation right now. What if he had tried to kill me? … I thought as much.”

After telling off the head of security (and enjoying every minute of it), she hung up the phone and burst into giggles. This was the most fun she had had all day! She took a few moments to savour the experience, then went back to memorising her script.
