Adam regarded Xavier for a moment.
“I thought you said you were going to dye your hair last night.”
“I did.”
“You did? It sure doesn’t look like it. It looks just as colourful as always.”
“Well, I did. There’s silver streaks as well now.”
Adam groaned.
“Xavier… I think it’s safe to say you’re one of a kind.”
“And that’s just the way I like it.”
The boys were preparing for Xavier’s wedding. Adam was the best man. Sam and Mike were also groomsmen, and Zeke was the page boy. They were wearing black suits with silver trim. Isaac was attempting to straighten Zeke out, who clearly didn’t like wearing the suit.
“Aww, it’ll do Dad,” Xavier said after taking a few moments to watch this. “I mean, I know it means that the suit demon is gonna get him if he doesn’t wear it neatly, but I’m beginning to think that Zeke wants to be taken.”
“What’s the suit demon?” asked Zeke.
“He’s the demon of suits. He’s very nasty. If you don’t wear your suit neatly, he kidnaps you and eats you for his dinner. The suit makes a nice flavouring too.”
“Yeah, right!”
“Okay, fine, don’t believe me,” and he left it at that.
Isaac didn’t have any more problems straightening out Zeke.
**********
Audrey walked down the aisle in a cute little lavender and silver dress, throwing petals on the floor. Electra’s friends, Andrea, Katherine and Tiff followed her in their yellow and silver gowns. Tiff was the Maid of Honour. And at last came Electra herself, in a lavender and silver gown and her father by her side.
There was a camera filming everything that occurred. At the same time it was being broadcasted to their friends and families in California and Kansas.
“Should I be concerned that Xavier hasn’t done anything bizarre?” Babsie whispered to Isaac.
“It could be that he does know when to be serious. Or it could be that we haven’t gotten to that part yet.”
Babsie stifled a laugh.
“You may now kiss the bride,” said the pastor.
Xavier got a cheeky grin on his face and he turned to Electra and lifted her veil. He kissed her, then suddenly dipped her backwards. When he stood her up again, she couldn’t help but laugh.
They walked out of the Church and talked with everyone and took photos.
“I have to say, when I joined this Church, I was a little apprehensive when I found out that Xavier’s family came here,” the pastor admitted to Electra. “Your husband has a reputation for acting crazy, but he turned out to be always respectful during the service.”
Electra smiled.
“Some people would never believe that Xavier can be serious, but he is, rare occasion though it may be.”
“Serious?” asked Xavier, joining them and slipping his hand into Electra’s. “What is this ‘serious’ you talk about?”
Electra laughed.
“C’mon, I refuse to be in one more wedding photo without you.”
“As the way it should be.”
