Chapter 38

"Funkster!" Babsie exulted.

"Babsie! Long time no see!"

Babsie gave her friend a hug.

They were in Australia. And, more importantly, they were in the studio for the Hot Stuff replacement show, entitled 'The Weird, the Warped and the Wild'. (The comment was made that the whole show could have been called 'Babsie' and it would have made the same point.)

"Oh wow, I had no idea you were working here."

"Have you seen one of the episodes yet?"

"Umm, no." She giggled. "No one's really told me a huge lot about what goes on. I just do the interviews."

He shook his head.

"Well, me, Dave, Spunkie, Kev, Daryl and Mars all got work on it."

"You guys need more chicks in your group."

"Ooh, you should see our Spice Girls mock up." Funkster smirked. "That's heck fun."

"I still can't believe those girls are still around. I don't apologise for saying that I think they suck."

"Since when do you ever apologise for anything?" Taylor grinned.

"Hi Babsie!" Rebekah said, joining them. "I didn't know you knew our impersonators."

"I used to be one." Babsie replied.

"Care to join them for a number?"

"I might."

"By the way, Mars was telling me that you can identify like, any song."

"Well, anything pop, R and B, that sort of stuff, from any decade. Although sometimes I can identify songs and stuff from other genres."

"Umm, well, I don't know whether I believe you or not." Rebekah admitted. "But, ahh, how'd you like to play a little game on the show today?"

"What kind of game?" Babsie asked, that familiar mischievous twinkle appearing in her eyes.

"Oh my gosh." One of the other co-hosts, Brad, said. "That's forty-nine out of forty-nine. How on earth do you do it?"

"I have the answers written on my hand." Babsie joked.

"You know, we were gonna play this game until you missed one. But that could take all night." Rebekah commented.

"You're right. It could."

Babsie had a devilish expression on her face.

"We should make this our last one. Ok, someone from the audience?" Rebekah continued.

"Yeah, and remember, if you stump me, I'll give you a thousand bucks." Babsie grinned. "I can rest assured that I'll be keeping my money."

"You have one?"

The guy in the audience asked the question (he probably didn't even know the answer). Brad started the thirty seconds. Babsie looked at them with a distressed look on her face.

"Oh, umm, err, well..." she said.

"5, 4, 3, 2,"

"The Monkees." Babsie smirked. "Hey, hey we're the Monkees, people say we monkey around."

Then she laughed that the expressions on everyones' face.
