Chapter 57

When Zac and the four members of Monkey Business arrived, dinner was already being served.

"Guys, this is my wife, Kelsey, and my daughters Hope and Kitty, and my sister Sarah. This is Dylan, Travis, Baz and Owen. Where's Avie?"

"She had an audition today remember?"

"Yeah, but it's dinner time."

"They probably ran late, and besides traffic is bad."

"You've been home all day, how do you know what the traffic is like?"

"I listen to the radio."

"Ahh, yes, point taken."

After saying grace, they ate and talked about different things, music being a prominent topic. Sarah talked about her band and the guys wished her luck.

"Hey everyone! Sorry I'm late," Avie greeted, walking in. "Ooh, look, guests."

"You're... you're Avery Hanson?" Owen yelped.

"Well, I was the last time I checked."

"Sorry about him, he's a huge fan," Travis cut in. "He must have watched every episode of Rocky Road three million times already."

"Hey! That's where I've seen you before," Owen said to Hope. "I knew you looked familiar. Hey can I have your autographs?"

Hope smiled and nodded.

"Sure," Avie grinned. "On one condition: tell me who you are."

"Oh, I'm, umm, I'm Owen. And this is Travis, Baz and Dylan."

"We've signed their band," Zac explained.

"Cool. Great to meet you."

"You probably think we're all weird now, huh?" Travis said.

"Nah. Besides," Avie replied, her eyes glinting, "one day you're gonna be on the other side."

Avie sat down and quickly filled her plate with food. When everyone had done with dinner, they talked more until Kelsey and Hope brought out dessert. The night seemed to go quickly, and before they knew it the guys had to leave. They piled into their car and drove off.

"So, Avie," Zac said with a sly grin. "You and Dylan seemed to get along."

Avie groaned.

"Don't start with me, Zac."

"Why not? It's fun."

"You're not going to catch anything with your bait."

"You sure?"

"Hey, like, knock it off you two," Kelsey cut in. "Zac? Can you do the washing up tonight, seeing as you made me cook extra?"

"I suppose. You dry up Avie?"

"If I must."

"You must."

Avie just shook her head and chuckled.
