Babsie nodded slowly, holding her hand.
"Yes you were. But... y- ahh, the bullet - the damage it caused - killed the baby."
"Oh my gosh." She whispered, visibly upset.
There was quiet for a moment.
"Does, does Taylor know?"
Babsie paused. She looked away for a moment then back at her cousin.
"Yeah he does. And he's not taking it very well. He thinks that if he had agreed to sleep with her in the first place, you wouldn't have gotten shot and lost the baby, she wouldn't have thrown Rose out the window and he wouldn't have been raped."
"I, I, I still can't believe she threw Rose out of the window." Rita was breaking down into tears again. "How could anyone do that? She's only ten months old."
"But she's ok Rita. Zac caught her in time. She's fine."
"How, how is Zac?"
Babsie winced slightly.
"The glass went deeper that we first thought. They got it all out, and he'll be ok. He'll just need a crutch for the next few weeks. No drums or motorbikes for him for awhile."
"Betsy and Betty and whoever else he's got will be so depressed."
Babsie couldn't help but laugh.
"Is, is Taylor ok?"
"He's pretty shaken up still. But, umm, he's agreed to see a counsellor."
Rita nodded slowly. There was quiet for a moment.
"What, what, what about her?"
"She's in custody at the moment. And there is going to be a hearing or a trial or something. But everyone's pretty much convinced she'll be put in an institution. Morgan was right to call her a psychopath."
"Morgan?"
"Oh, oh, you wouldn't know. Apparently Zac knew about the stalker because he was around when Taylor opened one of the letters."
"Letters?"
"A bunch of creepy photos. I believe the police have them now - evidence, y'know. Anyway, Morgan heard Taylor and Zac talking about the stalker and they said something about her being a psychopath. Naturally Morgan wanted to know what that was."
Rita smiled wryly.
"Anyway, Taylor managed to tell her that a psychopath was a dangerous crazy person, and if she ever saw one she was too run away and get help. And, she was right behind Taylor when he arrived to help you with lunch. Morgan heard Taylor call her a psychopath, and well, ran off to get help."
"I bet Tay was very proud." Tears were still tickling Rita's cheeks.
"He is. We all are."
