Chapter 48

Taylor carefully rocked Rose, keeping one eye on the stalker at all times.

"What do you want?" He asked when Rose was finally asleep.

She paused and studied him for a moment, her head tilted to one side.

"What do you think I want Tay-Tay? I want you."

Taylor didn't like the sound of that.

"Well, you can't have me."

She immediately boiled up in rage.

"If I can't have you, then no one will!" She shouted, taking aim at Rita.

"No, no don't kill her." Taylor begged. "Please don't."

There was a tense silence.

"I should you know. She should die for getting between us." She almost purred.

Another tense silence. Taylor sighed.

"What, what do I have to do to keep you from killing her?"

A smile grew on her face.

"Why, Tay-Bear, I want you to make love to me."

**********

Two shots rang through the air. Those out front could hear Taylor yell and Rose began to cry again.

"Rita?" Babsie gasped, covering her mouth with her hand. "Oh please, no."

Isaac wrapped his arms around her and they all just stared at the house.

The next thing they knew a chair came crashing through the window. And they heard Taylor yelled again.

"Rose! Oh no! No don-"

A small bundle came flying through the broken window. Zac rushed towards it and caught it neatly, but with a cry of pain. Isaac rushed over to help.

"She threw Rose out the window?" Babsie asked wide-eyed, taking her from Zac's arms.

"Ahh! Hey man, don't touch it!" Zac objected.

What a lovely piece of glass it was that was sticking out of Zac's leg, just below the knee.

"Babs! Call an ambulance!" Isaac called.

What happened next was very... confusing. At the time none of them were entirely certain of exactly what happened. It was only looking back that they were able to make sense of it all.

The cops arrived a few minutes later, along with the ambulance workers thirty seconds later. While Zac's leg was treated, the police managed to get in the house.

Taylor had been found naked and tied up to the underside of a table. He had a bullet wound in his shoulder, strangely enough only inches away from where he had been shot once before seven years ago.

Rita had also been shot. Her hip was bleeding furiously. Later, at the hospital, it was discovered she was suffering from a severe concussion.

The stalker, who turned out to be a Georgina Fitzpatrick, was in police custody.
