Chapter 37

"Hey that sounded really awesome." Babsie said.

She and Isaac had flown up to LA for Jess and Austin's wedding. They were currently in the recording studio, listening to Indecision.

"Thank you." Zoe replied.

"You're welcome."

"So, what do ya think Babsie?" Lance asked. "Market-wise that is. Think they've got any number ones?"

Babsie grinned.

"One word: 'Ashes'."

"Ashes?" Oliver repeated. "Not a chance."

"And why not?" Zoe asked indigently.

"Well, no offence or anything Zoe, but y'know, I personally don't think that one would go number one y'know. I mean, I like it but..."

"I know what you mean." She glanced at Babsie. "I like it too, I should hope so, I pretty much wrote the whole thing, but a number one?"

"Hey, you listen to this girl." Lance cut in. "If she thinks something can go number one, then the only thing that can stop it is marketing."

Babsie smiled.

"You really think so?" Mackie asked.

"It's entirely possible. Although, I wasn't planning on getting your hopes up. Like Lance said, there's marketing involved."

Carmen tugged on Zoe's skirt.

"Auntie Zoe." She said.

"Yes Carmen?" Zoe asked, kneeling down.

"It's gonna blow the charts."

Everyone laughed.

"Now, I wonder where she got that from?" Isaac grinned at Babsie.

"Personally, I'm so proud." Babsie replied with a twinkle in her eye. "Three years old and she's already predicting the music industry, just like her mum."

"Umm, no, she's just trying to appear smart by agreeing with you." Zac cut in. "What she doesn't know is that copying you is the worst possible thing she could do for her rep."

"Imitation is a compliment."

"Well, you should know, you've done a lot of that. Paid lots and lots of compliments."

"Oh, you're just mad because the only thing you can impersonate is a tree trunk."

"Yeah!" Carmen agreed venomously.

Then she wondered why everyone was laughing again.

"Babsie?" a voice called.

Babsie's eyes locked with the caller.

"I'll talk to you later guys." And, on, that, she left.

"Babs, Babs, you can't avoid him forever." Isaac said, catching up.

"That's what you think."
