He bounded towards her like a Mexican jumping bean that's drunk too much coffee, grabbed her by the waist and whirled her around.
"What?" Jess giggled, when he set her down again.
"I just got a call from my agent, and you'll never guess..."
"What?"
Austins' excitement was catching on.
"There are auditions coming up for the sixth Star Trek series."
"Oh my gosh - you're going to audition?"
"Of course!"
"Oh wow! This is so totally awesome!"
"So, you wanna go out and celebrate?"
"Shouldn't that wait until after you get the part?" Jess smiled.
"Nah, we can just have another one then."
**********
Jess was a little surprised when Austin suggested and took her to one of the more fancier restaurants. She was even more surprised when he ordered champagne.
"Umm, Austin, don't you think this is going a little overboard?"
"Nope."
Jess shook her head in amusement.
Then, somewhere during the middle of dinner, to Jess's complete and utter surprise, Austin stood up, and tapped on his glass.
"Excuse me, everyone. I would just like to say something that I would all like you to witness."
Jess's first thought was that he had gone a little crazy over the upcoming audition, and was just that excited he was gonna tell everyone all about it. Talk about embarrassing!
"Four years ago I had the good fortune to meet someone who I now think of as the most wonderful woman in the world."
Jess couldn't help but smile and she knew she was blushing as Austin knelt in front of her.
"This woman is now sitting right here." He continued, taking her hand. "And I want to know, Jessica Hanson, will you marry me?"
On that Austin pulled out a box with a beautiful engagement ring and looked at her hopefully. Jess was smiling so big now, her cheeks were hurting and she could feel tears of joy pricking at her eyes. At first all she could do was nod - she was so happy (and slightly embarrassed) that she couldn't speak.
"Yes." She managed out.
There was thunderous applause as Austin slipped the ring on her finger (and it fit perfectly too). They hugged (and kissed too, but not too long or passionately - they were in a restaurant after all).
