“Zac! Hey!” Taylor greeted stepping into the hospital room, Isaac on his heels.
“Hey! You made it,” Zac grinned at them.
“Wow,” Isaac said, looking his brother over. “Kelsey says you’re looking better... if this is looking better I’d hate to think what you were looking like when you got hit.”
Zac chuckled.
“How’s everything going?” Taylor asked. “How are the treatments going?”
“I had the last one yesterday,” Zac replied. “So, yeah, therapy starts next week. Oh joy. No, really. It’ll be great to finally be able to get out of bed.”
“I can imagine,” Isaac nodded.
“Anyway you guys are probably wondering why I insisted you come visit...”
“We just figured you missed your favourite brothers.”
“That’s kinda harsh towards Mackie, isn’t it?”
“We were never in a band with Mackie.”
“True, true. Actually... that’s kind of it. The band.”
“What about it?” Isaac asked.
Zac took a deep breath.
“I want Hanson to get back together.”
Isaac and Taylor looked at each other.
“Uhh, Zac, wasn’t splitting Hanson up your idea in the first place?” Taylor asked.
“Uhh yeah, but I mean, things change,” Zac pointed out. “It was because of our families that we decided to have a break – and we never really did all that much touring as the band. We released that best of album a few years back and that’s it. I want us to actually y’know, put together a new album with new music and y’know, return to touring full time. We’ve all become loaded down with projects more than families now. Most of our kids have grown up -”
“Isn’t your youngest, like 3?” Isaac asked.
“I’m amazed that you know how your own kids are, let alone my Pippa,” Zac replied.
Isaac chuckled.
“Point is, 3 isn’t grown up,” Taylor interjected.
“Point is, I only have four kids and none of them are in a band. Hope’s acting and she’s old enough to look after herself,” Zac replied.
“And to marry who she wants?” Isaac suggested.
Zac glared at him, then shook his head.
“I can’t believe you guys are arguing with me about this. Taylor! You’re a romance novelist for goodness sake! And when you’re not writing fluff, you’re managing MOE Publications! And Isaac when you’re not managing MOE Records, you’re busy being a business tycoon. When I’m not busy with IMHBITD I’m managing MOE Productions...” Zac shook his head. “Seriously, is this what you guys want to be doing with your lives? Let’s pass these things on and get back to music. Not managing it. Not chaperoning our kids’ bands. Actually playing it, and writing new music and touring. Us. Hanson.”
“Y’know what?” Isaac said. “You’re right.”
“Of course I’m right. I’m always right,” Zac nodded.
“Doofus,” Isaac replied good-naturedly. “We talk about reforming the band and touring again and stuff, and what happens? We do it once. I think it’s about time we got serious about Hanson coming back.”
Taylor looked between them, a huge grin forming on his face.
“I agree. Let’s do this thing.”
“Great!” Zac beamed. “You guys go back and start handing things over, then come back up here and we can start writing again.”
“Oh look, things are going back to normal,” Taylor said cynically. “Zac’s bossing us around already.”
Isaac laughed.
