Chapter 7

"What other, umm, mutants are there?" Taylor inquired, fascinated.

"Oh just about every creature you might call fictional." Trinity answered.

"So, Big Foot really does exist?"

Trinity grinned.

"You betcha."

"What the -" Rocky asked suddenly.

He had reason to be shocked - Cuddles had just woken up and had, uhh, jumped Isaac. Oscar started laughing.

"Hey look, we've got Thing to-to add to-to our ever-growing list." He chuckled.

"Allow me to introduce my pet Cuddles." Isaac grinned. "He used to be my arm, uhh, but that's a long story."

Rocky looked closer at Cuddles.

"How is this possible?"

"How is any of this possible?" Isaac answered with a grin. "I was shape-shifting one day, and, uhh, the part of me that was my arm got ripped off. To cut a long story short, my dismembered arm came alive and well, here he is."

"How'd you get a new arm?"

"Jess has Healing."

Rocky gave Jess an astonished look.

"You can heal people other than yourself?"

"Yeah." Jess answered, looking confused.

"Incredible. The only mutants we know with Healing can only heal themselves."

"I guess they're not really mutants." Oscar commented. "Not so much as they are... what did you-you call it? Triggered, that's it."

"Hmm." Trinity said thoughtfully. "I think we know why Goblin wants your brother. She must have witnessed him using his power at some stage and realised how much more, uhh, capable he is. Assuming, of course, that he has, uhh, more capabilities with his powers like the rest of you."

"Well, he has Water, Electricity and Restoration." Isaac said. "Actually, his Water power was how we got into this mess. He's just started being able to turn into water, except he can't control it yet."

"Then I got into a water fight with his, and he went all water and I accidentally froze him." Avie admitted unhappily.

"She has ice breath." Taylor explained, putting his arm around his sister.

"Let me guess, you left him alone for a moment, and the next one he was gone?" Trinity said. "Typical Goblin. The frog has more henchmen than all the James Bond movies put together and doesn't trust any one of them. She probably teleported him out herself."

"Teleport?" Taylor repeated. "Oh my freaking gosh!"

"What?" Rocky asked.

"I think I've seen her before! Just, just... we were in an accident just a little while ago - that's why Isaac's leg is broken - and somehow my mind got pushed into one of my Telepathic probes and got attached to this rock. Umm... I forgot where I put it. Anyway I, uhh, had to take over someone else's body briefly to get to this petrol station and while I was there - just my mind and this rock - I saw this cloaked figure. And it was really weird because I couldn't hear her thoughts."

Rocky, Trinity and Oscar looked at each other.

"And I know she realised I was there." Taylor continued. "I know she did. She found where I had hidden the rock and she tried to take it. But her hand wouldn't fit - thank goodness. Then she bought... water and... a Freddo Frog. And I was so sure when she picked up the frog that there was something going on about that. But see, I couldn't read her mind and my Empathy wasn't working for some reason, so, y'know. Anyway, I followed her and then she disappeared into thin air."

"I'd say it's safe to assume that was Goblin." Rocky said. "She's gotten some sort of technology that can detect Telepathy. If it shielded her from it as well wouldn't be surprising."
