"Stay here." She ordered them as she turned into yet another person.
She got out and headed to the reception.
"Me finks Zelly is a meanie." Ripples said.
"Yeah. A big, fat, ugly meanie." Twinkles agreed.
"Knock it off you two." Zac said. "At least she doesn't want to eat you."
That shut them up. A few minutes later Zella returned. As she approached she turned into the teenage girl Zac had first met her as. She opened the door.
"Get out. We're staying here tonight."
The car was locked and Zac followed Zella to the motel room.
"One bed?" Zac questioned, entering.
"If it bothers you that much, I'll sleep on the floor."
"Oh, it's just, I thought..."
"Look. By now the Goblin would have untied her tongue from that tree, and she would have sent out her henchmen." Zella stared as Zac started chuckling. "This is not a laughing matter."
"Sorry, it's just... I think 'henchmen' is a funny word... don't you?"
Zella have him a strange look and the two insect people started giggling. She let out an exasperated sigh.
"Look, my point is, they have powers too. And not all mutants are different visibly. After all, I look human don't I? They'll be looking for you. And people will recognise you, Mr Celebrity." Zella said condescendingly. "If they find us, they take you back to be Goblin's little sex slave and your two annoying friends will make a nice lunch for her I'm sure."
Zac glowered at her.
"Hey just because you know everything that's going on and I don't doesn't mean you get to act all high and mighty. And it's not like I'm freaking useless you know. And I ain't stupid either. C'mon little Miss Delicate - isn't that how Mary Anne would describe you? Why you going around pretending to be a teenage girl huh? Why the interest in my girlfriend? Or were you just using her to get to me or some other member of my family?"
The two glared at each other.
"Are they fighting?" Twinkles asked Ripples.
"I fink they is."
"I fink they is too."
Silence.
"I'm going to bed." Zella informed him, breaking the quiet at last. "It's a big bed Zac. There's plenty of room for the both of us without... having any problems."
Eventually they all went to sleep, the only noises really being the cars outside and Ripples occasional cry of "my foot!"
