"How far away are we?" he asked.
"We should get back by night fall."
"Hewo sleepy head!" Ripples shouted gleefully.
"Hey Rip. Hi Twinkles."
They were travelling for a while longer when Zac started noticing Zella speeding up.
"Umm, you're going over the -"
"I know. We're being followed." Zella was quiet for a moment. "It's the red car behind us. A mutant by the name of Mayne. Fire, Invulnerability and Flight."
"He's catching up. Y'know, I've always wanted to be in a car chase."
"Well, you're in one now. And if he catches up with us... Damn this, I can't shake him."
Zac looked nervously back at Mayne.
"One of Gretel's henchmen I suppose?"
"You bet."
There was a tense silence as Mayne sped right up next to them and tried to nudge them off the road. Z retaliated by attempting to push back.
"Cars can be short-circuited right?" Zac asked suddenly
"Yeah... why?"
Zac didn't answer. He rolled down his window.
"What are you doing?" Zella demanded.
He stuck his head and his arm out of the window. He pointed his finger at the pursuing car, prayed that this would work, and let loose a bolt of volts. It hit Mayne's car... a moment later sparks hit the road and it started rolling to a stop.
"Electricity?" Zella asked.
"Yep. You can thank me later."
"Ok, so you have Water and Electricity, and Restoration wasn't it?"
"Yep. What about you?"
"Shape shifting, Strength and Empathy."
"Y'know, for some reason Frog-head thought I could turn into a rat and had Telepathy."
"Ahh, so in her rush to get you before we found out she was in the area, she failed to do her homework. You'd think for someone as old as her she'd have a bit more patience." Zella paused. "Your brother Isaac can turn into a rat can't he? No, she probably thinks it's a Rat power."
"Taylor's got Deep Telepathy. Ike, Rachel, Mackie and Zoe have got normal Telepathy."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah... Isaac has more than three powers doesn't he?"
"Yeah, he has four, maybe five."
