"Mom? Dad?" he said. "I have, well, ok, me and Ike and Tay have decided to call a family meeting."
"Oh?" Diana asked curiously.
But Zac wouldn't say another word until all nine of them were seated in the lounge room.
"What we say in here must not be repeated to another soul. And I'm sure you'll understand why after we tell you." Zac said. "We have powers."
He held out his hand, palm and fingers pointing upwards and made the sparks flicker through his fingers.
"This is was I call my 'Sphere of Light'." He grinned. "I have an affinity with Electricity and with Water."
Here, Zac doused his sphere and cupped his hands together to that they filled with water. He held his hands out so that Walker and Diana (who were sitting in shock) could see, then drained the water out of his hands.
"I can also restore stuff…"
Here Zac broke a glass that was sitting on the table. A piece of the glass cut his hand. Zac then restored the glass and held out his hand to Jess.
"…that isn't living. And Jess can heal people."
Jess healed the cut on his hand.
"She can also see people's dreams and change them." Taylor continued. "Which is really good if you're having a nightmare. And she and I have empathy…"
Slowly they all explained to their parents about their powers and how and what they knew about them.
"I, I didn't mean to trigger Zoe." Zac apologised. "It's just, well, she touched those wires and I could only absorb so much y'know? So umm… well, ok, electricity is like, umm, it's like white light. With the right prisms and filters and stuff you can change it into lots of different colours. Well, lets say for example that the type - the colour of the electricity that you use to trigger people is red. Well, what I was doing was filtering out all the electricity in her body that wasn't natural and wasn't red, because I knew that all the red would do would trigger her powers - I knew it wouldn't hurt her."
"So you're saying… that the only one who doesn't have powers, is Mackie." Walker said slowly.
"I want powers too!" Mackie insisted.
"Umm, yeah…" Isaac answered. "Look, we know that this is a lot to burden you with right now, but surely you understand why. Zoe is two and she can light fires just by thinking about it."
"We understand why you didn't tell us before, and we appreciate you telling us now." Walker replied. "I don't suppose there's any way to reverse it?"
"Not that I know of." Zac replied.
"Hey!" Avie cried suddenly. "I've got an idea. Ok, Zac? You said that white light could be changed into different colours right?"
"Yeah, light is colour."
"Ok, cool. Lemme see if I can do this."
Avie concentrated, then next thing they knew the light in the lounge room was glowing green. She grinned triumphantly and started changing the colours of it. Purple, red, blue, yellow, orange, pink, so on and so forth until she put it back to white, and switched it off.
"Whoo hoo!" she grinned.
