"Zac?"
"Huh? Oh hi Tay." Zac looked around. "Where are we?"
"About five blocks from home." Taylor replied.
"Oh."
There was quiet for a moment.
"Is Zoe ok?"
"Yeah, she'll be ok." Taylor gave Zac a concerned look. "I'm a little worried, she's only two and she's been triggered. Never know what repercussions this might have."
Zac groaned.
"I didn't know what else to do man. I could only absorb so much and I was already pushing my limit." He sighed unhappily. "It was the only thing I knew to do."
Taylor patted him on the back.
"Don't worry about it man. I know you would only have triggered her if it was an emergency." He paused. "You realise we're gonna have to tell Mom and Dad don't you? The girl can create fire."
"What?"
"Yeah, Ike was sending me images of what was happening. He didn't notice it, but I did. Dude, she shot flames out of her fingers. I don't think she knew what she was doing but hey…"
Taylor pointed to his left. There was large amount of smoke. Zac gaped at his brother.
"Our little Zoe did that?" he asked.
"Oh yeah. Look man, I've been doing some thinking -"
"Did it hurt?"
"Ha ha. Look, I'm gonna wake up Ike in a minute, but we should go home really soon. Ike and I also have to get in the house before you guys do ok? Mom and Dad confined us, and there's cops and stuff so… y'know…"
"Ok. I guess we'd better wake Ike then." Zac then gave Taylor a confused look. "How'd we end up here anyway?"
"Ike can do cars."
"Oh…"
**********
Zac bashed on the front door.
"Yoo hoo! Wake up in there!"
They waited for a few minutes until Taylor just so happened to hear them. He opened the door.
"Zac!" he cried in mock-surprise.
He gave his siblings hugs and let them in, then bounded up to their parents' bedroom. Eventually, everyone in the house was awake.
"What happened? How'd you get away?" Walker asked.
Before, while travelling in the Isaac-mobile, it had been explained to Mackie (Zoe had been asleep) that he was not to tell anyone about Isaac and Taylor rescuing them.
"Well, ok we were locked in the basement right?" Zac said. "And I found a screwdriver, and the hinges to the door were inward so I unscrewed them. We moved the door and walked right out the front door. Easy."
Well, it wasn't a complete lie.
