"I, I fainted? How? Why?"
"Don't worry it's ok."
"Tay, I swear I saw… Mackie…"
"Shh, shh, Rach. It's ok, really, listen."
Then, despite Zac's protests, Taylor told her all about their powers and the anomalous gene so on and so forth.
"Whoa, whoa, wait a second, you're telling me I have powers? That I'm telepathic?" Rachel said.
"Yes."
"Ok, ok, I knew it was going to be weird dating Taylor Hanson, but I didn't know it would be this weird!"
Taylor smiled. They were now sitting outside undercover. As it was raining they didn't have to worry about the prying eyes of neighbours.
"It's all true Rachel." Diana said. "And believe me, I know how you feel. Walker and I felt the same way, well, except we don't have powers."
"I suppose now you want me to trigger your powers huh?" Zac asked in annoyance. "Well, hey, at least now Taylor'll get his wish. He wanted me to trigger you as soon as he found out you were one of us."
Rachel gave Taylor a small smile.
"C'mon Zac." Taylor said. "It's way too late now. Besides, what if we ever need a baby sitter? Don't you think it's better to have one where it won't matter if our sibs use their powers in front of her?"
Diana and Rachel laughed and Zac smirked.
"Any excuse Tay!" He said. "Ready Rach?"
"Uhh, well…"
"Don't worry Rach. The only telepaths around all have blocks up, so you probably won't have any thoughts or images swamping your head." Taylor assured her.
"Ready Rachel?" Zac asked again.
Rachel took a deep breath.
"Ok, ready." She said, obviously not, and closing her eyes.
Zac zapped Rachel. As soon as the bolt touched her, a second bolt, one of lightning, shot from her head, through the covering, up to the clouds and back down again. Never had they heard a louder thunderclap and the rain suddenly seemed to come down harder.
Rachel's eyes shot open and she stared at them. Slowly she moved her head up to see the hole in the covering right above her head.
"Whoa… did I do that?"
"Oh yeah." Taylor answered.
