Chapter 9

Blake and James arrived at the Hansons hotel room (or one of them) later that day.

"Good to meet you guys again." Isaac said. "Have a seat."

For obvious reasons there was a very select group in that room. Along with Isaac, there was Walker and Jess. Zac was there too, but he was on the other side of the room, just far away enough to be clear of James' enhancing range.

Taylor wasn't there because he said that the pounding gave him a headache. Avie wasn't there because of the problem with lasers coming out of her eyes. Mackie and Zoe weren't there for any reason in particular and Diana was keeping an eye on them.

"I'd just like to make this clear." James said. "I don't want my powers triggered if Blake doesn't have any."

"Ok." Isaac said. "There I guess we'd better try Blake first."

"Jess?" said Zac. "You should stay near Blake ok? I don't know if the electricity will hurt him if he's not an anomaly."

"Ok." Jess agreed.

"I'll be fine." Blake said confidently. "James is my good luck charm."

James smiled wryly.

Perhaps the most awkward part about this was that Zac had to zap Blake from the other side of the room. His bolt of volts would have a longer distance than usual to travel, and electricity, being electricity, it was rather erratic and there was a chance he might miss.

Fortunately, Zac didn't burn any holes into the walls or furniture, and despite the distance, he managed to zap Blake right in the middle of his forehead.

"Whoa baby!" Blake exclaimed. "Oh my… oh gee, sorry Jess."

"Why? What did ya do?" Jess asked, a little confused.

"I, uhh, it's umm," Blake looked a little embarrassed. "I had x-ray vision there for a second."

Jess's eyes widened, and then it was her turn to look embarrassed.

"That better be the last time I hear of that happening." Zac said, with a mock-glare.

"Why is the telly on?" Isaac asked. "Dude, you turned the telly on!"

"I did?"

"Yeah, it sure wasn't on before… besides, there's no way anyone in here would watch golf."

Blake smiled.

"Say, I wonder…" he said.

He concentrated for a moment, and then the channel changed. And it changed again. And again. In fact Blake change the channel a few times before turning it off.

"Cool." Isaac said.

"Interesting." Walker commented. "I wonder what the full extent of that power will be?"

"What? Control over the tv?" Blake asked. "One things for sure, I won't have to go around looking for the remote again."
