Chapter 8

While Isaac explained to Blake and James how they had powers and why they suspected they had powers, Taylor and Zac headed back to the rest of their family.

"Well, we have, umm, news." Taylor announced. "Whether it's good or bad you can decide for yourselves."

"Oh?" Jess asked.

"You know that guy we though was magnifying our powers in that mall in LA?" Zac asked. "He's here. We just spoke to him."

"What?" Avie asked, nervously, remembering her bad experience with magnifying powers.

"Yep." Taylor affirmed. "But I was wrong. He wasn't the one magnifying our powers."

"He's not?" Diana asked.

"Nope, it's his older brother. The blind dude." Zac answered.

"Oh, well, that changes everything." Avie said sarcastically.

"Look, Isaac's talking to them now. He's telling them everything." Taylor put in. "They… well, Blake anyway, James is blind after all, but Blake saw, umm, he saw Zac turn into a puddle of water."

"Turn into water?" Jess asked. "I didn't know you could do that."

"Neither did I." Zac replied.

"Well, I hope you know what you're doing." Walker commented gravely.

"It's not like we have another choice." Zac pointed out. "It's not like we can wipe their memory or something."

Around ten or so minutes later, Isaac returned.

"I warned James not to come near any of us while we're here." He told them. "I let them know what happens when certain people in this family have their powers magnified, and he understands."

"What else?" Walker asked, immediately suspecting something.

"I told them that if they want their powers… well, if James wants his powers - there's no guarantee that Blake has any - that they should come to our hotel tonight."

"Why wouldn't Blake have any if James does?" Avie asked. "They're brothers aren't they?"

"Sure but, ahh, there's genetic involved Avie. Like, Taylor is my brother, and he has blue eyes, but I have brown, y'know what I'm saying?" Zac explained.

"Oh, ok."

"That was probably a good idea Ike." Diana said. "I just hope that they won't tell anyone about you guys, if they don't come tonight."

"I'm sure we're safe." Taylor said. "I agree with Jess's assessment of Blake's personality, and James had a pretty decent one too."

Jess stared at him.

"You mean, you actually have your empathic block open?" she gaped.

He gave her a wry smile.

"Yeah, I opened it the second I realised I made a mistake about Blake."
