Chapter 13

It was getting late and Black and James had to get back home. They switched e-mail addresses and phone numbers with each other and then Isaac, Taylor, Zac and Jess decided to walk with them down to the lobby.

"Y'know how I said… well ok, Blake and James weren't there at the time, but I can monitor telepathic activity." Taylor said while they were in the elevator.

"Really?" Blake asked. "So, can you overhear telepathic conversations?"

"Yes Taylor." Isaac put in with a sharp look. "Can you?"

Taylor looked a little embarrassed.

"Well, umm, yeah… but that's not the point."

Isaac wagged a finger at him.

"Hey, it's not like I'm gonna make a habit of it man. Mackie and Zoe never talk about anything interesting! And the only other Telepaths are you and Rachel! And unless I think she cheating on me with you, I have no reason to eavesdrop." Taylor defended. "Anyway, as I was saying, I've noticed that some other powers have a telepathic, umm, trait to them. Telekinesis and Teleportation in particular."

"What other powers?" James asked.

"Umm, well, I think your Enhance does. But the reading I get from that isn't as strong as when I get from the others."

"What other powers?" Jess asked.

"I'm not really sure yet. The monitoring thing only just began to surface."

Jess seemed to accept this.

"Well, just be sure you let us know." Zac said. "I remember what happened last time your powers began surfacing and you didn't tell anyone."

"What happened?" asked James.

"Well, you see, in the beginning we knew that Taylor was telepathic, expect we thought it was just normal Telepathy. Except a few weeks later he started getting, like, random thoughts from people." Isaac began.

"Yeah, well, I didn't think it was all that important at the time." Taylor muttered.

"He's always been of the opinion that his powers are useless." Jess told them. "Gee, I tell you what, if I had Deep Telepathy, the last thing I would be calling it is useless."

"So anyway, by the time he finally decided to do something about it, he couldn't because it was too much of a problem for him to handle. I had to put a telepathic force field around his head before he could manage to put a block up." Isaac finished.

"The moral of the story," Zac joked, "if something weird is happening to your powers, tell someone!"

There was a clunking noise, and then next thing they knew, they were standing in a stock-still elevator, in near darkness.

"Damn, what would I do for Avie's Light power about now." Jess muttered.

"Never fear, Zac is here." Zac said.

He held out his hand and sparks flicked through his fingers and over his palm.

"May I introduce you to my Sphere of Light." He grinned.

"Show off." Isaac teased.
