“Oh man,” Taylor complained. “If she sees me… Guys I’m going to go the long way. I’ll meet you at the pool.”
He scampered off before he got an answer. When he did get back to his cabin, Isaac and Zac had already left. As he got changed his hand brushed his rock. Hmm, perhaps he should find out where Mandy was, so he didn’t bump into her on the way to the pool. He finished dressing and then sent his mind into the rock. He could have done it without it, but the rock seemed to magnify his power and locating Mandy wouldn’t take as long.
*Ahh!* Taylor screamed as the most awful wrenching sensation took hold of his mind probe.
He had only just located Mandy when it happened. It felt like he was being pulled right out of his rock at a speed beyond comprehension. He was dragged up out of the room, up out of the ship, over the ocean...
Over the Earth?
Through the atmosphere?
Into space?
It was all going so fast. He could barely comprehend what he was seeing. Stars, planets, comets, asteroids, moons, meteors. Things he didn’t even get to see long enough to even think about what they were. And then, as abruptly as it started, it stopped.
If Taylor had been in his body he would have had to catch his breath.
He was in a metal room. It was bare and upon further inspection he found he couldn’t go through the walls. There were no cracks either.
What was this place?
*Hello?* Taylor yelled. *Hello? Anyone out there?*
There was a noise, and from the middle of the ceiling a small cylinder was slowly lowered. As soon as the cylinder was in the centre of the room, there was a soft click and Taylor felt himself being drawn to a slit in the cylinder. Uncontrollably drawn. He tried to fight, but to no avail, and he was trapped inside.
Just as he was thinking he was going to go crazy and hoping it was all a terrible dream, a wall opened and in came two men wearing the strangest looking clothes Taylor had ever seen. It was not so much that he couldn’t recognise boots for boots, pants for pants, shirts for shirts, it was more that he had never seen anything like the material they were made out of before.
They spoke words Taylor couldn’t hope to understand. And he certainly couldn’t figure out what language it was supposed to be, even with the amount of travelling to other countries he did. He found himself wishing Jo was here. She’d probably know what it was.
The cylinder was lifted and placed carefully into a bag obviously made just for it. The bag was closed and Taylor was surrounded by darkness.
Had Taylor known what these people had been discussing, he would have been more than just concerned. But he didn’t and he concentrated on being scared. Really scared. Terrified even. He was certain he was going to go crazy from the sheer lack of stimulus.
Had Taylor known what they had planned, he would have been worried still. For these people hadn’t gotten a telepathic force this strong from that sector and decided it would be worth investigating. They sent one of their own, whom we shall call ‘Gordon’ as that is the closest English translation, to the rock, where they had taken Taylor.
And from there, he found Taylor’s body.
Which he promptly took over.
Gordon sat up and twisted his, err, Taylor’s, err, his, err someone’s neck. He stretched the arms and legs. Wiggled fingers and toes. Rotated the elbows and wrists, ankles, shoulders and knees. He flexed the back and blinked. He rubbed the face and jumped slightly as there was a knock on the door.
“It’s just me, Taylor. And you better not be getting changed still,” came Rachel’s voice.
Gordon stared at the girl who entered the room. He had not understood a word she had said and she was wearing very strange clothes indeed. It was skintight and extremely revealing. Had he better experience in this society he would know it was called a bikini. But he didn’t.
“C’mon Tay, you’re missing out on all the fun.”
Gordon just stared, somewhat amazed that he didn’t know what she was saying. Why, he knew so many languages already, how could he not know this one? And he was feeling this odd sensation... emotion? Ah ha! So, this new telepathic mind had Empathy as well. Gordon had not used an empathic body before, not that it did him much good as this method of body takeover was severely restricted. Like inability to use the body’s powers – and access memories.
“Taylor?”
Gordon stood up, wondering briefly what he should do. This girl had some telepathic ability, but only the menial amount that the world had so much of already.
