Chapter 3

Rachel opened the door.

"Taylor? What are you doing here?"

"I had to see you." He said.

"Shouldn't you be on tour."

"I had to see you." He repeated.

Then, unable to contain himself any longer, he wrapped his arms around her.

"Rach… I, I, I killed someone."

"Say what?"

"I killed someone. On, on the show."

"The show that got held up?"

"Yes. I killed him."

Taylor couldn't contain himself any more. All the torment he had put himself through just came out in a flood of tears. Rachel just kind of stood there.

"Come, come on Tay. Not here. Umm, let's go to that pond. No one else will be there."

"So, umm, what do you mean, you killed someone?" Rachel asked nervously.

"He, he, he was about to shoot at Zac and I, I pushed my probe into his head - so much faster than I had before. And I - oh man, I…"

"It's, it's ok Tay. Just, umm, tell me in your time." Rachel said, reaching over and wiping the tears from his cheeks.

"I got my probe to find an artery in his brain... and I, I… attacked it."

"With your probe? I thought it only worked telepathically."

"No. It doesn't. And then he collapsed and I, we, found out later he needed neurosurgery. He, he, he didn't survive."

Taylor started crying again.

"I didn't mean to kill him! I only wanted to knock him out! I didn't mean to kill him!"

"Tay, Tay, relax ok? From the sounds of it, it was the surgery that killed him, not you. Not you."

"If it wasn't me. He wouldn't have needed surgery."

"Oh? Well, serves himself right."

"Excuse me?"

"Well, c'mon, he was the bad guy there. They were trying to rob you people, and goodness knows what those thugs would have done with the dozen celebrities at the show. You could have been held for ransom and, well, usually when people are held for ransom, they don't come back alive."

Taylor was silent.

"Tay, I saw what happened on the TV. If, if you hadn't acted, Zac might be dead, and the thug would have definitely would have been hospitalised, if not dead. He was going whacko with that gun Tay. The police probably would have shot him."

"Y-you really believe that?" Taylor asked finally.

"Yes, I do."
