Chapter 7

"Hmm, ok. So I have to use my powers - that I didn't even know I had - to get rid of these things. Gee, what am I? A magnet?" Zac muttered.

Zac grabbed a beaker and pulled it off. But as soon as he had put it on the bench, it flew back to him.

"Oh man."

Then he headed over to the tap and turned it off. But as soon as he let go, it turned back on and started soaking him again.

"I don't mind a little water, but this is ridiculous."

He started pacing.

"Ok, lets think about this. I have powers right? And I have no idea how to use 'em right? Hmm, ok, so maybe I should do what that chick did in that episode of Star Trek. Focus on the solution and not how I'm gonna get there."

Zac stood still. His brow furrowed in concentration.

"The tap is gonna stop spraying me and the stuff is gonna drop." He said to himself.

He licked his lips in anticipation - still concentrating.

There was a sudden clatter and the beakers and what not fell to the floor. The tap turned off. Zac grinned triumphantly.

"Say, I wonder if that's the real reason why the dishwasher decided to work?"

But he had no more time to ponder this as he was back in the kitchen with Diana.

"- you." Zac said without realising it.

Diana smiled at him, shaking her head in amusement. Isaac entered then.

"Hey Zac, wanna game of basketball with me and Tay?"

"Sure!"

Zac bounded out of the room after him, wondering whether or not he should tell them about his powers.

"Nah, not until I've mastered them They probably wouldn't believe me."

"What was that Zac?"

"Oh nothing."

Once Isaac and Zac were outside, Zac burst out laughing when he saw Taylor tossing the ball into the hoop.

"What's so funny Zac?" Taylor asked.

"Oh nothing." Zac answered.

But that wasn't quite true. Zac was thinking about what Dustin had said about Taylor and why he attracts girls.
