What they do know about their powers is that they are caused by a relatively rare, anomalous gene. Someone with this gene can be either a Level 1, 2, or 3 anomaly. Level 3 anomalies can go through their entire lives and never be affected by the gene.
Level 2 anomalies can subconsciously use their powers throughout their lives. They have no control over this power at all. However, it is possible for a Level 2 to become a Level 1.
Level 1 anomalies know they have their powers and so can control them.
Since the triggering of their own powers, they have also triggered the powers of their siblings, Taylor's ex-girlfriend Rachel, and two brothers from Boston named James and Blake. They have met up with a girl from Australia named Jo, who's powers were already triggered, as well as a magic troop from England called The Mystics, made up of Doug Connory and his two kids, Nate and Carla, who is currently dating Isaac.
Doug is a Level 1. His known powers are:
(affinity with) Electricity - This allows him to create, manipulate and 'destroy' electricity. Cannot be harmed by it.
Invisibility - This allows him to turn anyone or anything he chooses invisible, either to all others or a specific person or group of people. The person/people and/or item/items cannot stay invisible indefinitely.
Telekinesis - which allows him to move objects with his mind.
Nathaniel is a Level 1. His known powers are:
(affinity with) Metal - This allows him to manipulate metal. He can also turn into a metallic form.
Move through solids - This allows him to move through any solid object, solid, meaning nothing that is in a liquid or gas state or is organic.
Telepathy - which allows him to communicate with his mind to other telepaths.
Carla is a Level 1. Her known powers are:
Atoms - This allows her to manipulate atoms. Despite having lived ten year with this power, she is still restricted as to what types of atoms he/she can manipulate, although the restriction has been letting up gradually. Also, under certain circumstances she can create atoms or parts of it. However, she cannot destroy atoms unless she wishes to create a disaster with an almost identical result as that of an atomic/nuclear bomb disaster.
Shape Shifting - which allows her to change her shape into pretty much anything she wants, including people, objects and surfaces.
Telepathy - which allows her to communicate with her mind to other telepaths.
Rachel has recently acquired a third power:
Rubber - This allows her to turn herself into a rubber form.
Due to a freak accident involving Isaac's arm getting dismembered while having shape shifted into a pot plant, he now has a pet arm by the name of Cuddles.
