"Hey Zac!" Wayne greeted cheerfully. "Meet my girlfriend Ama."
"Hi." Amarita said.
Zac just stared.
"Zac, it's not nice to gawk at other people's girlfriends." Taylor teased.
Zac scowled at him, sat down at the table and ignored everyone.
"Sorry Ama." Diana said pleasantly. "He's not normally like that."
"Oh, that's ok." Amarita replied cheerfully.
*Hey Tay.* Isaac said.
*Yeah?*
*Don't be too hard on Zac ok? You know the alien that Zac said screwed up the time line?*
*Not personally.* Taylor joked.
*Yeah, well, that's her right there.*
*Amarita?*
*Apparently.*
*She doesn't look like an alien.*
*What do you expect an alien who can infiltrate human society to look like?*
*Point taken.*
*I wonder how she screwed it up?*
*Only Zac knows.*
*Ahh, there are times I wish he would shut up. This isn't one of them.*
*Yeah, exactly.*
"Umm, do you suppose I could get an autograph?" Amarita asked suddenly.
She immediately looked embarrassed. Wayne chuckled.
"Ama's a big fan." He said, grinning at his cousins.
"Sure." Isaac said. "I think we can arrange something."
"Thank you." Amarita said with a small smile.
Zac stole a glance at her, his expression dark. That smile didn't fool him. And neither did that human exterior. Zac knew that underneath all that skin was an alien.
Oh sure, she might have no recollection of what had happened in the first timeline. And she might not have her alien powers, but she was still an alien.
And she was still the enemy.
It was her actions that caused Rachel to kill herself, and almost caused Isaac to kill himself too. She made Taylor and Isaac cheat on each other with her. She made them sleep with her. She tore us apart. And those were only the things he knew about!
Zac tore his mind away from those thoughts, worried that Taylor might catch part of his thoughts.
How much he wanted to go back on tour, and far away from Amarita.
