Yes, holes. In his cheeks. And his teeth weren't looking particularly healthy either.
Isaac's hands flew to his cheeks. Jess, with her magnified powers, sensed the injury as soon as the lasers had hit. Her eyes wide with alarm, she pressed her hands against Isaac's and concentrated. Jess fully intended to use this power enhancement to her advantage.
Now, you might remember the two giggling teenage girls? Well, while all that was going on, one ran over to Taylor and started kissing him. The other girl started gushing over Zoe.
Taylor once again got the pounding sensation on his telepathic block. Jess, of course, was feeling everyone's inner emotions, unlike Taylor, who, as usual, had his empathic block up.
It was all over in a couple of seconds, but to them it seemed like a lot longer.
As soon as it was over, the girl who had been kissing Taylor pulled away slowly, gaping more at what she had just done than at Taylor. She opened her mouth as if to say something, closed it, opened it, closed it again, turned and ran for dear life. Her friend was close behind.
The Hanson's looked at each other. Isaac's hands were still over his cheeks, but now he was tracing the inside of them with his tongue as if he couldn't believe they had been gone…or were still there.
Avie's eyes fluttered opened and Taylor picked up Zoe. For a time no one said anything.
"It, it, it didn't hurt." Isaac said, breaking the silence and amazement in his eyes. "I swear it didn't hurt."
"What didn't hurt?" Avie asked nervously.
"Your, umm, your lasers burned holes in his cheeks Avie." Jess said gently. "But it's ok. Ike's fine, I healed him."
"Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh! Ike I'm so sorry!"
"It's, it's ok Avie. You didn't do it on purpose. But I swear it didn't hurt."
"Maybe one of your powers…" Taylor began.
"No, no I don't have any that can do something like that."
"Not even shape shifting? Or force fields?"
"If it were force fields, I wouldn't have been hurt. If it were shape shifting, there wouldn't have been an injury for Jess to heal." Slowly, Isaac moved his hands for all to see his palms and cheeks. "And I wouldn't have bled."
Isaac put his hands back to his cheeks. Avie was looking very upset and there was another silence.
"I'd better go wash it off." He said finally.
There was a brief silence.
"You know something?" Rachel said finally. "I, I, I, think… I don't know… but I think that Zoe may just have attraction too."
