"But how?" Zac asked. "How? How? How?"
"A very good question." Walker observed. "Why don't we try and identify any common elements from each time it occurred."
"Well, they all happened at the mall." Isaac said.
There was quiet as everyone started thinking.
"Maybe it's the mall itself?" Jess suggested hesitantly.
"If it's the mall itself, why does it magnify our powers so erratically?" Taylor asked.
"I don't know! It was just a thought!"
"Geeze, no need to be so defensive. I was asking a genuine question."
"There's always been people." Zac said suddenly. "Even when it happened in the bathroom, there were other people there."
"Whoa, you're say a person is doing this?" Rachel asked.
"Makes sense don't you think? Why it always lasts a few seconds. They've just been walking past." Zac pointed.
"Another anomaly?" Diana asked.
"That could be it. But who? That's the question now." Isaac agreed.
"It's a guy." Taylor decided.
"Oh?" Jess demanded. "What makes you think it couldn't be a girl?"
Taylor gave her a look.
"How many girls do you know go to the mens toilets?"
"Good point." Zac said.
"Well, I don't know Tay." Jess replied. "A lot of people think you're a girl."
"Ooh." Zac teased. "A low blow but a good point nonetheless."
Taylor just raised an eyebrow, unimpressed.
"Y'know Tay, it's a shame that you usually have your empathic block up. We might have been able to figure out who it was by comparing those empathic signatures you and Jess are always talking about." Isaac said.
"How so?" Taylor asked.
"Well, you could have made lists of what empathic signatures were present during each incidence and then compared them and see which ones were there each time. There were only a few people in the bathroom that would have made it a much shorter list. Well, assuming you can remember what signatures were there."
"Yeah, that might have worked. But I can't recall empathic signatures like that." Jess paused. "At least, not yet."
"But I can." Taylor said. "Well, I can't get into my mind and find stuff, but I sent you a video of what happened Ike, I can get the images of the people I saw in there - and search your head Jess, for those same people."
"Of course, you only saw two of the four people in there Tay." Isaac pointed out.
"True… but at least we can rule out those two."
"You should really learn to open your empathic block occasionally Tay." Jess said. "You'd be surprised how useful it can be."
Taylor didn't answer.
