Prologue

He dropped the knife and immediately the bleeding stopped. All of a sudden, out of absolutely nowhere, they had appeared in what seemed to be a sophisticated mock up of a court room.

"Isaac." Taylor said coldly.

"Taylor." Isaac replied with the same hostility.

"Ike? Tay?" Zac said, looking at them.

"Hi Zac." Taylor said pleasantly.

"Hey Animal." Isaac replied.

"See what you've done?" boomed a voice. "This should never have happened."

Right before their eyes, people started appearing. Humans. The voice seemed to come from the one sitting in the judges' seat. The person there then gestured to the blood on the floor which started to clean itself up.

"That." He said pointedly. "Wasn't supposed to happen."

There seemed to be a moment of silence.

"Uhh, where are we?" Isaac asked. "What's going on?"

"Maybe you'd like to explain yourself - Amarita."

"Amarita?" The three brothers gasped.

There they saw her. A girl around Taylors' age, with an almost smug expression on her face stood up in some sort of witness box in the middle of the room.

"We are aliens." She said haughtily. "Compared to humans, we are omnipotent. Our race has spread out amongst the races, studying them. We live lives as their kind. I have lived over a hundred lives on your planet, including the one you know as Amarita."

They stared at her.

"This can't be happening." Zac said, although he knew in his heart that it was so.

"My name isn't really Amarita of course, but that is what I'll be called during this trial, for the sake of simplicity."

"Trial?" Taylor repeated.

"We have a rule of non-interference." said the Judge. "She has defied this law - meddled with the human heart amongst other things. Much has happened that should never have come to pass."

"You don't know that!" accused Amarita.

"Silence! We know the affects of what you've done." The Judge scolded, then turned his attention to the Hansons. "You may call me Dustin. We have brought you three here because you are the ones most affected by the actions of this... of Amarita. When the trial is over, we shall return you to your home and you will have no memory of what has passed."

There was quiet while they absorbed this piece of information.

"And now we shall go through from the first point of Amaritas' major interference..."
