Isaac snickered.
"It's not a laughing matter." Jess objected.
"Jess is right." Isaac said, trying to keep a straight face. "A mind is a terrible thing to lose."
Isaac's and Zac's eyes met. They cracked up laughing.
"It's not funny!"
"What's not funny?" Walker asked, walking in.
"Taylor's lost his mind."
Walker stared.
"Uhh, riiiiiiight."
"It's true! Dad, you have to believe me!"
If it weren't for his daughter's obvious distress, Walker may well have joined his sons in with their laughter.
"Uhh, so what exactly make you say this?"
"Because I have my dreams block open. And anytime someone is asleep or unconscious I can feel them in my mind whether they're dreaming or not."
Walker nodded.
"Go on."
"And, ok so you know I can sense injuries now if I'm touching someone right? Ok, so I, I just used that in conjunction with Dreams, and, and, and it's not there!"
Jess couldn't hold back the tears any longer. Walker wrapped her up in his arms. Isaac and Zac's laugher sobered and they finally looked concerned.
"I, ahh, I suggest we keep this between the four of us for now." Walker said finally. "After all, there isn't really anything we can do about it."
"True. How do you find a lost mind?" Zac asked.
Walker gave him a look.
"What? I'm being serious."
"You're not even going to tell Mom?" Isaac cut in.
Walker paused.
"No. There's no need to worry her more."
Isaac nodded.
