“I’m fine thanks Ike,” Trinity replied.
“Want a drink or something?”
“No thanks. Where is everyone?”
“Taylor’s out with his girlfriend, Zac and Jess are saying good bye to Mary Anne – she’s moving to Arizona today, Mom and Dad are out somewhere, and I’m babysitting.”
Trinity nodded.
“I had hoped to get to talk to all of you, but, no matter. I came to let you know that I’ve been assigned as your liaison with Mutant society.”
“Liaison?” Isaac replied, with a hint of a smile.
“Yeah,” she replied, fishing out a card from her pocket. “These are my contact details.”
“Do you want me to give you ours? Or do you already have them?”
Trinity grinned, and her eyes merrily glittered orange.
“I do like your eyes,” Isaac commented.
“Thank you. And yes, I already do have your contacts. Of course, we’re liable to meet up during your tour...”
“I’m sure of that.”
“You’re off on Monday aren’t you?”
“Yeah. So, did you guys ever catch that vampire?”
“Yes and no. We ended up losing him, and then Z came across him by chance,” a small smile crossed her face. “The story is that the vampire didn’t realise who Z was and tried to suck her blood. Needlessly to say, there’s one less vampire to worry about.”
“Were you allowed to tell me that?” Isaac asked, thinking of the behaviour of Rocky.
“Well, no one actually said I couldn’t... but better not let on that I told you either way.”
“What is Mutant society like anyway?”
“I think the best word is... diverse. I’m sure you’ll get to meet up with different communities as you go along.”
“Is that all you’re going to tell me?”
“Yep. I’ve been doing this for years and I don’t think I know of everything mutant yet. Let alone keeping track of what I do know. Where are those two insect people friends of yours anyway?”
“They’re Jess’s almost constant companions,” Isaac grinned. “But since she’s out, they’re playing with Zoe. I’m a little concerned though – I don’t want Zoe to start talking like them.”
Trinity laughed.
“Yes, yes, that is cause for concern huh?”
