Chapter 19

“Y’know, it’s just occurred to me that I’ve never actually see Fair Dinkum perform,” Zac commented.

They were backstage at the concert, hiding behind the wings and waiting to go on.

“I haven’t even heard their CD... oops,” Taylor grinned wryly.

“Me neither.”

“Ah, what kind of friends are you?” Isaac teased.

“Have you?” Taylor demanded.

“Umm, no...”

“What kind of friend are you?”

“Jo’s got a really great voice huh?” Zac interrupted.

“She does,” Isaac agreed. “Mason’s really good on his guitar too.”

“They’re all good... you know we should jam with them more often. Maybe they’d teach us a thing or two,” Taylor said, his eyes twinkling.

“Maybe.”

“She has an amazing stage presence too,” Zac went on.

Taylor and Isaac looked at each other.

“Ok, first he’s kissing Z, then he’s gushing over Jo. Who’s next Zac? Angela?” Taylor asked.

“Aww, shut up.”

“I think he’s love sick,” Isaac put in.

“Yeah, he’s after a rebound girl now that he and Mary Anne have broken up.”

“Ooh... I think we’d better warn them huh? Don’t get into a relationship with Zac right now. He wants a rebound girl.”

“I do not. And I’m not love sick,” Zac objected. “That thing with Z was just... I dunno... some weird accident. And aren’t I allowed to appreciate someone else’s talents? C’mon, you have to admit, I am right about Jo.”

“Whether you’re right or not is beside the point,” Taylor decided. “You’d probably gush over Jo even if she wasn’t that good.”

“Yeah,” Isaac agreed.

Zac gave them both a dark look.

“I don’t have a crush on Jo, and that’s that.”

The teasing would have continued, except it was about then that they went onstage and jammed with Fair Dinkum for a couple of songs.
