Zac looked to see what it was. It was hard to tell because it was getting dark and the only light wasn't working very well. He had tried zapping it, however it seemed it wasn't an electrical fault.
"Chocolate?" he asked himself.
On the floor were a few chocolate bars. Obviously the person who had opened the door had thrown them in.
"I see, dinner." He muttered.
"Food?" Mackie asked.
"Yeah sure bud." Zac answered. "Just gimme a sec."
Zac had been doing some experimenting recently with his restoration power. He had been trying to figure out if he could restore poisoned food to the state it was before it was poisoned. It had worked. So now, Zac was making sure none of the chocolate bars had been contaminated.
Of course, as Zac saw it, anyone who poisons chocolate has committed a terrible crime worthy of life in prison, if not a torturous demise.
Fortunately, the chocolate did not appear to be poisoned and Zac gave each of them a bar. There were a couple left over, but Zac thought it would be prudent to save them just in case.
"Zacky? I wanna go home." Zoe complained.
"Yeah, so do I."
A little later, Zoe had fallen to sleep, and Mackie was well on his way to dreamland. Zac took the opportunity to stand up. He held out his hand with his palm and fingers pointing upwards, then created sparks that flickered through his fingers. Now he could see everything in the room a lot clearer.
"Zoe might be able to fit through the window." He murmured to himself. "Assuming we can open or break it enough. But then what?"
He sighed, then wandered over to the door. But however much he inspected it he couldn't find a way to open it and get out.
Zac yawned. Then he saw something glint out of the corner of his eye.
"Ah ha! A screwdriver."
He picked it up and headed over to the door. He had observed that the hinges were inward, and well, he had seen those shows!
"Damn! Rusty!" he muttered.
Nevertheless, he hid the screwdriver, just to be on the safe side.
Having nothing more to do, Zac stopped the sparks (they were beginning to get a bit noisy), sat back on the floor, and eventually went to sleep.
