Chapter 8

Isaac eyed the girl at the door suspiciously.

“Who are you?”

“I’m Su, I’ve come to see Taylor.”

“Uh huh.”

Isaac found it hard to believe that Taylor was friends with this girl. She must be a fan.

“Look, just ask him. He knows who I am.”

“I think you’d better go,” Isaac replied and closed the door.

“Who was at the door?” Taylor asked.

“Some weird looking chick looking for you, actually. Su or something.”

Taylor froze up. Isaac noticed this and questioned it:

“Ring a bell?”

“Umm, yeah...”

“So, you know her?”

“Yeah, but I don’t want anything to do with her.”

“Who is she?”

“Trouble.”

“Ahh... anything I should know about?”

Taylor paused.

“No. No, but if I hang around her there’s bound to be some trouble.”

Isaac nodded.

“Fair enough.”

Meanwhile, a few street away Zac was hanging out with Cherry. Finally he couldn’t take it any more:

“Cherry?”

“Yeah?”

“Look, I’m real sorry, but we have to break up.”

Cherry stared. Then she breathed a sigh of relief.

“Oh man... I’m glad you said that. I’ve been trying to work up enough nerve to say it myself.”

Zac laughed, then sobered.

“Why?”

“Why? You first.”

Zac shrugged.

“I guess... I guess the most honest thing to say is that... well, I met someone else when we were on tour. I... I got to thinking about her all the time and not you, and... well... I figured our relationship, well it wouldn’t be fair on anyone if we continued.”

Cherry smiled.

“I feel the same way. See, I uhh, I met someone too. We can still be friends can’t we?”

“Sure. Just as long as you meeting someone else doesn’t mean you were cheating on me.”

“Well, that applies to you too, Zac Hanson.”

Zac grinned.

“Don’t worry. I didn’t cheat.”

“And neither did I.”

They looked at each other.

“Well, umm, I guess I’d better go,” Zac said at last.

“Yeah, I have to go too. Bye!”

“See ya!”
