**********
Hours later Taylor was sitting by Lauras' bed in the hospital. The bullet had since been removed and she would live.
"You know, I never actually thanked you." Taylor said. "You know, for pushing me away from the bullet."
Laura waved a hand at him.
"Oh, hey don't worry about it. I'm your body guard after all. I'm supposed to protect you."
Taylor was quiet for a moment.
"Oh, I see. It was all part of the job."
"Ahh, well, actually my job was the furthest thing from my mind at that moment." She replied with a small laugh.
Taylor smiled and traced her jaw.
"I was really worried about you while you were in the ER you know. I, I don't want to lose you. Besides, that was the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me. Well, aside from Mom on the day I was born."
Laura giggled. Then Taylor leant over and kissed her. When he pulled away, Laura was giving him an odd look.
"I'm sorry." Taylor said with a sigh. "It's Ike isn't it? You like Ike and -"
"Where did you get that idea from?" Laura interrupted.
"Zac."
"Since when is Zac ever a reliable source of information?"
"You, you mean..."
"I admit, I used to have a crush on Ike. But then I got to know him -"
Taylor laughed.
"Oh, I didn't mean it like that! It's just that you know, we never really clicked. No chemistry if you know what I mean."
He smiled.
"So, so, what's wrong? Is it me?"
Laura rolled her eyes.
"No... I just, wasn't really expecting it."
And on that, she wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him back down to the bed, and kissed him.
For a long time.
